Need a bit of advice. I've been trying for months to get my mom and grandparents internet. Telkom removed their lines and cell phone signal is weak where they stay for mobile. I was wondering if I can use the following

To increase the signal strength. Rain covers the town they live in but it's just just out of reach from their house. It basically stops at the street. I want to get them uncapped at a reasonable price. Satellite internet is too expensive for what it is. There's no fiber in the area or adsl.

The Poynting XPOL-6 I use is about half this cost and very effective, highly recommended personally. I don't think there's a lot of stock at the moment with a lot of these antennas, which also drove up the prices a little but I wish you luck! It's certainly the best we can go with if your tower is not so congested and robust until fibre is more widespread.

I am using a LTE antenna booster (outside) from Otto Wireless. They are indeed every cent worth it!

@Dbandit_19_81 @Crumbl0x so this is still new to me but is this a relatively easy setup? There's a chance I'm going to have to try guide my family over the phone how to set it up

so the antenna is outdoor with a 10m lead. straight into your router (not mobile, but a sim enabled freestanding router). Unit is directional, so you will need some configuration done upon the install of the antenna - use CELLMAPPER

Thanks for the quick reply and info :) I think this is definitely the route to go. At least they won't be disconnected from the world anymore.

With this new Rain Optimizer your family members will know in which direction(s) they should aim, at least. (At this stage, the chances of any of your loved ones slipping off the ladder/roof is now higher than the chances of NOT getting a connection to a Rain tower! What a time to be alive!)

I think my granddad chances of falling of a high place has always been high. He still out there climbing trees with a chainsaw

I understand it’s an outside antenna but can you use it internally? I’m planning to test it on the table first facing the tower on the window before wanting to drill it, if it works I’m gonna keep it inside. And also how have your Rain or any network speeds improved, from which numbers and to what now??? Stability? I actually would like to buy it but I want to check people’s feedback, my Rain is bad and it used to be great.

hey

so it will be rather a bit pointless installing it indoors. what router are you using? is it RAIN5g or the 4g/lte offering?

I’m currently on their 4G R250 deal, I used to get 28Mbps on my B618 even on Archer MR400 AC1350 but now under 1Mbps so I was wishing and hoping an antenna would change my life. I checked out this Otto LTE antenna and also their 5G antenna. For LTE I’m gonna pay R1,454.75 and 5G is R2,024.00 with delivery , just a R500 difference. So yes it will be “pointless” having it inside but I was asking just so I don’t rush to drill it especially if it will boost a bit even when it’s inside, not that I won’t drill it at all. And reason I’m also looking at 5G antenna is because 5G is slowly growing so it would be wise to consider its antenna instead of making a second purchase in the next few months.

And again I ask how have your Rain or any network speeds improved, from which numbers and to what now??? How’s the stability??
