I am having to reboot routers 3 or 4 times before they connect again, they show signal, but zero throughput.
I see Afrihost still has a notice up on their site with regards to RAIN. So frustrating.

Their reply to me "Unfortunately there is no estimated time given as to when the connection issue will be resolved yet"

See my earlier post. I found switching bands helped to remedy this.

works fine for me, but I can agree with another poster here, heed to reboot my phone to get rain LTE to work.

So the only other option is Cell C :(

How bad is it, just slow or does it also disconnect?

I switch my router off during the day and quite often when I boot it up when I get home, I'll have connectivity, but no internet (all the lights are green but no internet). Usually another reboot will resolve this, but lately it hasn't immediately. I have to repeat this a few times then it usually comes right which is annoying. I've always set my router to use 2600 (I get better speeds), and what I've discovered last night is that if I change it to use ALL bands when I get this connectivity issue after a reboot, I get connectivity again. After that I can switch to 2600 without any further issues, or at least until I get home and start the router up. FYI I do this to avoid being a victim of a power spike AGAIN.

Some time ago somebody posted a .bat file that allows you to change your bands on the router without having to log into it. It works like a bomb. RAIN has dropped the ball.

Perhaps playing with the bands offer a solution, use it don't use it :)

EDIT: I have found the original post (below) https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/do-you-see-4g-or-4g-with-rain.920902/

http://2share.co.za/Files/Windows.zip

Unzip that. I'm assuming you have a windows pc.

Edit huawei_band_tool_config.txt with the correct username, password and router ip address.

Run this one LTE_2600_TDD.bat

That will force the router to the 2600MHz band only. LTE_1800.bat for 1800MHz band only these are the 2 bands Rain support. See which one give you the best speed.

Run LTE_ALL.bat if you decide to activate all bands again.

This is what I do as well.
I don't have connectivity to the 2600MHz band.
But I force the router to the 2600MHz band anyway, and then back to the 1800MGhz band and "viola!" I have internet connectivity again.

Axxess doesn't seem to be aware of the issue :p I'm really battling though, last night and the night before, it dropped out roughly every 15 minutes.

Band hopping works for me... Sometimes. Though any form of streaming is useless and playing an online game like PUBG - you'll reconnect and find yourself dead.

Sorry Rain and Axxess. I cancelled, support on this was sorely lacking as well as trying to make out that I was the only one having the problem. Quite happy with my move.

When RAIN launched there was a plethora of MyBroadband articles about how poor it was when it wasn't nearly as bad as it is now, but now that they have pretty much given us a potato and users have to reboot multiple times or change bands just to get a trickle of bandwidth there isn't a peep. If there was ever a time to write an article it would be now, and sommer scold the ISP's while you're at it.

I setup a ubiquiti unit to power the Huawei router, so it can auto reboot until connectivity is restored. And I wish I could use a Mikrotik LTE unit with RAIN.
