Rain is ridiculous

I agree, but sadly it's become that as the rain rep here seems to be the only decent support person they have.

Also, whoa, flame war.
They do seem to go the extra mile with supporting MyBB clients. Can't be a particularly easy job.

Have you heard of scams...Besides you can update on your banking on your profile anyway.

Publish it in an article, or your own blog then, with irrefutable proof.

@Raining FWIW I also signed up for Rain 4G and will be receiving my SIM in a few days.

I am expecting multiple issues based on other users posts on this forum. Who knows, I might also consider creating multiple threads asking for help soon.

If I run into a problem I will ask the Rain rep for assistance, in a calm and patient manner. Generally, that is when people are most wanting to assist someone.

Might also be pleasantly surprised when I get it as it will probably be an improvement on my ADSL-migrated 4MB/S LTE at present.

Don't be too hopeful. Last week I was hitting 15mbps during peak hours. For days now I'm back down to 2mbps on average. Nothing has changed on my side.

Also MB/s != Mbps.

I've had some good reports from other users in the area. I will try for seven days and see, it's obviously tower dependant.

I always get that wrong! I'm so dumb...
Not going to quit my day job and move to IT anytime soon :p.

Also, ouch at your speeds... Will move over to one of the MTN LTE packages if Rain doesn't function well for me.

Let us know how it goes. And also, what area are you in, generally?

I used to work with Gareth. I will most certainly contact him.
And yes, I am going to start a rant with every Rain issue - do you have a problem with that?
Please explain exactly what you mean? I'm a journalist. I'd like you to elaborate???
I'm a journalist who used to work alongside Gareth. Please elaborate? What do you mean? What is the definition and purpose of a Forum?
I asked you to elaborate? Please explain.

Your name wouldn’t be Karen, would it?

Rain is really ridiculous. They have asked me to SEND THEM MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS on EMAIL !!!!
They need to take a good look at their staff.
Hi @Raining

My apologies for the inconvenience, If you can PM me your email address will look into this for you because as far as I know we do not ask for credit card details.

Will do. I'm in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth. Will do a speedtest sometime.
Surprisingly impressed. Received it today, did not have any RICA issues and speeds are good now.
Initially the speed was 1 Mbps and I almost cancelled the thing. Played around with the Huawei band tool, placed my router on the other side of the house and presto, good speeds. For now...

Which package did you sign up for?

And what's the Huawei band tool?

Good questions. Took the 4G 24/7 unlimited option. I used the LTE view tool as references here. Works well on my Huawei B535 router. There is another one mentioned somewhere on MYBB, but it doesn't have a GUI and I didn't have time to fiddle around unnecessarily.

Play more you could get better

You are correct! Then using the LTE view tool you can check the different WiFi signal changes. It's funny how the smallest repositioning of the router/two external antennas can have a big improvement on performance.

If only I had a proper outdoor antenna...
