Can I please hear if others are also battling with Rain in Centurion. Now only getting 5Mbps and it has never been below 25. Even my email client keeps on responding "failed to connect to the server" unless there is also an intermittend problem with the Axxess and Afrihost smtp servers for sending email.

This problem started over the weekend.

I'm in Die Hoewes and all is well. I realised I had only 2 bars on my router at about 21:00 last night, but the movie kept playing without even blurring

Same here. I'm connecting to the tower close to Wierda 2 Spar.
Can't even run a Speedtest, it goes to 14mbps and then throws an error.

Full signal

Looks like I'm connecting to the same tower as you. Wierdapark spar next to the engen garage?

That tower does band 38 too. It is quite slow though not sure why because the whole wierdapark has fibre coverage anyways.

That's the one. I've got an open ticket with Afrihost, but they've been useless so far.

Thanks, this is really frustrating and I don't have many options - Cell C didn't work by me and there is no fiber yet.

If I may ask where do you stay because the whole area has Openserve fibre.

The tower is especially bad today. The problem is that the Rain mobile R250 uncapped users, Rain Fixe LTE like the one you got and Vodacom are all using the same Rain towers. This one specifically is quite congested and right now 2Mbps max no matter the band.

you live in centurion?

are you close to the tower do you have strong signal ?

I am on the outskirts in the bushes. :)
On Rain I usually have a good signal (15-20Mb/s) off peak with a B315.

During peak I am still on Rain but through Afrihost and I'm pretty sure they fiddle with it, because the speedtests show OK results but actual performance does not reflect that.

I'm afraid I have never tried a Telkom sim so I can't help you there, but the Telkom "landline" (fixed phone lookalike) works fine.

So we are on the same tower. Only after a few days we got informed of the problem on the network. Before we used to be informed on the same day of the problem.
