RAIN LTE-A: Speedtests

RAIN fixed LTE-A giving only 1 bar on Huawei B-315 LTE CAT4 CPE

Good browsing speeds with near-instantaneous page loads, but repeated speedtests showing slow speeds with high ping.

Strange thing is that my Google location (based on server) is now Pretoria WTF

Any suggestions to improve speed ?

Is this not where the Rain HQ/breakout point is?

Try an outdoor antenna, Poynting have a good selection. Where are you situated on the coverage map? Outside, fringe or well within coverage?

Non Covered Area as per the map.

Something is messed up with this, after number of dissatisfying tests with Hwaue B618s-22d, i've gone out and connected pointing radio XPOL-6-10M, located the cell tower and can physically see it from my roof where the radio is mounted , no more than 800 m to kilometer away. And still i'm getting this ridiculously low speeds .... do I need to learn a special secret handshake to get any performance out of this stupid Rain [iBurst {I should have known better}] network.

What gives folks, is something that one can fix or is this state of the nation for Rain in my area ?

Radio readings:
CELL_ID: 51235329
RSRQ: -9dB
RSRP: -69dBm
SINR: 4dB
PLMN: 65519

Your SINR(noise ratio) is really really low, my stats:

RSRQ: -6dB
RSRP: -75dBm
SINR: 26dB
PLMN: 65519

There's someone close to you interfering, try changing the band you're connected to.

Thx Max, I've forced frequency to 2600, its connected to external antenna, on top of the mast on my house. SNIR is little bit better but not anywhere close to yours.

Albeit now since i force switched to 2600, im getting some pretty reasonable speeds

Also check if your router is configured to use the external antennae?

Yip forced to external antenna as well, problem for me was congestion in 1800 frequency band. As many pointed out market was flooded with free modems that operate on 1800 Mhz only creating this saturation on in the band .....

That and the fact that Vodacom seamlessly roam on Rain and the most basic cellphones that support LTE supports 1800MHz. Vodacom being very naughty because they are dumping their users on the Rain network and then Rain users are suffering.

Anybody else getting super bad speeds this afternoon? All was well this morning (around 38mbps down, 19mbps up) but then went south at around 14:00.

I have tried changing between 2600MHz and 1800MHz. Same results.

My signal stats at the moment:
RSRP: -79
RSRQ: -4
RSSI: -55
SINR: 26
2600MHz

I'm in Plumstead area, Cape Town.

Gave it to my sister to test. Coverage area. 1.75 down, 0.03 up. 1000ms latency.
