Rain Mobile Feedback Thread

I reckon their backup generators (if any) were caught by surprise - and they were asking each other - are the lights really gone - should we not be kicking in... what do you think... lets wait abit... hahaha

My results are not so positive at the moment. Getting only about 1-3mb down and 1.5mb up which is to be expected in peak time. Guess I'll check again after 11pm and report back.

hahahaha.. they reckon eskom said we will never have loadshedding again..

Hows everyone downloading speed so far???

And does anyone have a link to the Rain Mobile FUP

Not sure if Rain is also going that route but 5G is going to be a game changer.. From what I read (and the rumours). 5G will be faster than 100mbit constantly. Even talks of over 300mbit true speed. Only time will tell

Seems much smaller cells required, different Frequencies and maybe 2020...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/5G

However, South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT analysed that 5G requires "small cell" base stations, which is expected to about 8~12 times of more significant numbers of stations to cover the current coverage of 4G base stations. It potentially involves a lot of infrastructure cost and redundant investments

I hit 250 gigs this weekend. so far so good. Found a cheap seedbox for 25 rand a month so torrents work anytime for me :D

Sub 1Mbps when trying to stream the Rugby this afternoon, even in 560p ...pathetic.

It's ok,will do for whatsapp, browsing, mail, etc and better at 3am in morning but cerainly wouldn't recommend it as a full time internet connection.

After a weeks long downloading Speed still OK so I guess there really is no cap.

Sidenote: I need a new hard drive....

Thanks, best I get with my B315 is 31mb down and 5.5mb up.

But, not complaining, have to say it performs really stellar for the price we're paying. Just hope it holds up moving forward :)

Never managed 30,but on the rare occasion 15-20, and not whilst streaming either. Only during speedtest.
Uploads are appalling...last night could barely complete Ookla speed test. 0.01Mbps

During Peak hours (South African time) able to achieve about 10 meg download, during off peak around 20 meg.

but my upload speed is terrible.

To be honest, I've only achieved 30 during early morning hours during off peak, from 8:00am onwards it dips somewhat to about 15-25mb download with about 4.5 - 5 on upload. During peak hours I reach max 10mb and my upload 1.2.

Same as the Alpha dude - speeds still rocking (B618 router)
Notice the faster than ... part

Whenever I visit the rain website.

along with the others... it's beginning to feel like a model agency instead of a a data network. :D

Just received an SMS that my sim will be delivered today. It was scheduled for tomorrow. I dont have my ID with me. I hope they accept my driver license...

I don't think this is going to last. Telkom LTE is uncapped and is around R525 to R799 (depending if your new or taking over someone's contract)

their FUP is 300gig odd (+-)

Rain for R250. I think it's beginning stages but their FUP will propably be closer to the 100gig mark (that's my guess)

Cause if you compare their Capped packages which is 55gig for R550 (so around R10 per gig).

my guess is 100gig FUP
