Is this information public knowledge because none of the RAIN re-sellers like Afrihost, Axxess, WebAfrica have made their customers aware of infrastructure upgrades. MyBB also is rather quiet too.
Webafrica did put out a statement :
Good Morning Web Africans
The RAIN network want to make things better and secure, so they implemented a few pretty awesome system changes to the network to ensure only the best preferred devices are utilized for the best connection the network has to offer.
The below routers are the compatible routers that require the roaming to be enabled to ensure connection:
• Huawei B315
• Huawei B618
• Huawei B2338 (Outdoor)
• ZTE MF253
• ZTE MF283+
• ZTE MF286
To enable roaming on the above devices please apply the below settings:
- Navigate to the router via 192.168.8.1 in a web browser. Default U/P is U:admin and p:admin
- Once on the page you will be asked to do a setup, which you can mostly next through except for the last tab in which you will need to configure a password. (Only for B618)
- Once done, you can select the “Settings” tab
- Simply hit the “Enable” button, apply and reboot.
For the B315:
- Follow the same procedure to navigate and log into the router as the B618, however you can skip changing the password on login. Default U/P is U:admin and p:admin.
- Login clicking “Settings” and input the username and password
- Below you can just select “Later” unless you really want to change the password.
- You will be greeted by the following landing screen from which you need to select “Dial-Up > Mobile Connection”
- Simply select “Enable”, apply and reboot.
Thanks All
