Rain Recommended LTE/LTE-A Routers

Thanks for the replies.
What other networks can I use the b818 on ? I heard it doesn't work on mtn fixed lte. Is this true ?
I may cancel my rain if a good deal comes. So I want a router that is flexible.

At the moment I have rain off peak and afrihost mtn fixed lte 150gb. Theres 8 of us in the family so I think 2 sims is necessary. I haven't tested them yet. I need to buy the routers. Ideally I'd like 2 b618...or maybe 1 b818. But that would cost me R7000 ! So currently I'm considering 1 b618 for mtn and 1 b525 for rain. I'm also looking for a second hand router. If I dont find one in a day or 2..I'm just going to buy it brand new.
What do you think ?
I definitely recommend second hand on places like Carbonite or the usual classifieds, they're usually just a tiny bit scratched up but perform as good as new, and routers don't keep their price well at all, you can usually see MR200's / B315's floating around for R500-800, B525's for R1000-1200 and B618's for R1600-1800. Apart from risk of theft and scams, it's the preferred method imho, I've saved thousands going this route and had to take a hit in the same manner selling mine but that's how it goes.

Hi Guys,

Looking for a reasonably priced LTE router for use with RAIN's 4G network and as a plus support Telkom's LTE network. Is the B618-65d still a good option?

I would not recommend the 65d if you intend to use Rain. That router can only connect to band 3 for Rain and band 3 is kind of congested, resulting in less than ideal speed and general network performance. The 22d is the better router for Rain and you would still be able to use band 3 and 1 for Telkom.

Awesome. Thank you for the info.

Can't seem to find the B618-22d are there any other decent router recommendations for RAIN?

If you are open to second hand routers, you can find some on facebook marketplace. There is a few I found for around 1600-1700 range. Let hope you can find some in an area close to you as well

Funny, that's exactly where I'm looking.. no luck so far though.

Just to check, does rain still work on Huawei B315s LTE router?

If there's B315s router from Telkom, will it work with rain or is it fixed to Telkom only network?

I am looking to get a MiFi router as I need a router that is mobile. Which device do you guys recommend?
