I have, finally, moved from Rain to MTN with my home 5g this is due to continual glitches* in the Rain service and a completely non- responding customer service. The upside is a saving of some R600 per month, for a comparable service, and upload speeds of 50gbps at the moment compared to rains 8 ro 10 which severely impacts video calling. As part of this I dropped my router to Rain Paulshof this morning well in advance of the termination of my contract on 1 August. I stated I had no problem with the router being switched off (as I no longer had it) but needed the cell phone number to remain active. True to form within 5 minutes of leaving the shop my cell phone SIM as switched off. In line with the fact that Rain never, ever does, what it says it will/is requested (unless it is posted here) I copy my correspondence with them below and would ask them to:
1. Make sure this is actioned
2. Don't ask for my contact details to get me of the forum and quietly answer me, you already have them

I just dropped my router back as I have cancelled from 1 August. I asked that my SIM card remain active until then.
This has not happened my sim has also been canceled as per this text:
As I no longer have this number and will start using my new rain mobile number. Also, the text suggests another charge on 1 august. This is not correct - I have given over 30 days notice. Please make sure another debit is not taken.
