Rain was good for a couple of years, then it went down hill or rather down a mineshaft. Won't go back.

Are they holding you hostage? Just move to another provider...
Pretty dumb question isn't it Einstein. If he's in a contract then to a point yes. Yeah he can cancel but their are fees. And at times there are no real options depending where one lives, so just moving on isn't that simple.

So only it went down the mineshaft very recently? Since a couple of years is 2 or 3 years, and Rain launched on 2018 only. :p

Do they do contracts now? Thought they were month to month (they might want their router back or charge for it though?).

Anyway, not amount of moaning and such will make them fix it, the only thing that will make them address the problems is subscriber loss.

It costs nothing to cancel a Rain month to month. But people will rather keep moaning and bitching than do that. The last part is also not valid, what if there never was a Rain? He'd still have to go with what's available.

Sure. But it also costs money to be a subscriber and get a kak product for what you pay. Rain would be a great product if it delivered like half what they claim.

Voting with your wallet works, but so does bitching.

Free country right?

If bitching worked Rain would be fixed already (due to the amount of bitching), the ANC would run the country superbly and DSTV wouldn't have endless repeats.

Rain is a Pyramid scheme.....
This needs to be quoted. Rain is basically pulling an Afrihost (many others too, but Afrihost I think were most famous for it) during the early days of ADSL "uncapped".

They have capacity for x customers and have basically sold to 10x squared. Oldest ISP scam in the books. Best thing they can do is basically make sure their MYBB "subs" are paid up for the frequent "article "/advertisement.

Dude, my statement wasnt about being held hostage or being bound to them in any way! Im pointing out that rain now sucks, so ofcourse people are going to moan and that's obviously justified considering there service quality.

It works. If Rain works for you then great. If not then move somewhere else. There.
you ->

my point -> .

wether you leave or bitch because of the poor service, it makes no difference to Rain in improving things.

Sounds like any other network. Someone was describing how they have to put the modem in a specific place, not 10 cm to the left, right, up or down. If they didn't mention Rain I would have thought they were talking about Vodacom. That's the nature of wireless. It never works all of the time for everybody. So it works to leave because that's how wireless works.

Lol sure it makes a difference. They'll feel it at their bottom line.
For every person that leaves, 10 more sign up. If it hurt their bottom line, they would fix their capacity issues. They are not. They have actually done the opposite by making their support more useless and difficult to reach. But we are a country where the majority are satisfied with mediocrity. Look at Webafrica. Still in business and thriving. Telkom. The list goes on. with the right advertising and odd "special" here and there in the right industry, you can be as sht as possible and still make huge profits.
