Ok so this is something I cant figure out!
I bought a set of this G.Skill RAM to replace my set of Kingston value ram (which has been moved to another pc).

Now the problem persists with and without my OC, no matter what I set the frequency to, and even when I use the XMP profile... I've tried upping voltages, decreasing them.. And nothing no far..

Now Steps to get my PC to run:
1) Switch PC on..
2) I get usual POST then as the windows starts loading I get a bsod
3) It instantly restarts, goes through post and then i get greeted with a screen to launch startup repair or start windows normally... Both options lead me back to 2 and 3... (and yes I've tried repairing but windows can't find anything wrong, and a system restore doesn't solve it)
4) I pull the plug, wait 10 seconds then replug it in.
5) Press on button
6) PC starts up, I get a and OC failed message (due to me pulling the plug) with i ignore and dont change my bios settings (just exit without saving changes).
7) PC restarts, I got POST and windows loads perfectly. Log in, No problems, Stress Test the hell out the machine, no errors! Every thing is working perfect! Even after hours of gaming!
8) Switch off machine and I go to sleep
9) Next day.. Go back to 1).

Now I've ran memtest on my first boot up and i get a crap load of errors... Then I do the above steps
and run memtest again, Can leave it for hours and no errors after like 20 passes..

Once it managed to get into windows on the first go, where I ran burntest and it failed. So powered down. Unplugged etc, and reran the test, and passed no problem!

I'm seriously at a loss here!! The only I can think of is that the memory needs to get warmed up, or there is residual electricity in the sticks.. I dunno...

EDIT: I have updated my mobo firmware and still the same problem..

Contact the guys over at wootware.co.za. They import G.Skill products themselves so they should be able to help you

I just don't want to RMA straight away, if it's something I'm able to fix. If no solution can be found, then I will contact them on monday..

EDIT: surfing the G.Skill forums I found:http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=5630 which is quite similar to my problem.. So might have to RMA..

Before you RMA, try underclocking your RAM, and other components on your PC. See if this makes any difference.
I've had a similar problem to you in that This would happen but not so frequent as it's happening to you. I fixed it by replacing my BIOS battery. The PC was shutting down then 'forgetting' settings and then trying to boot with overclocked defaults.

Agree with stroebs, only thing you can try now is underclocking the RAM perhapps with a bit of an overvoltage as well. But then again, you paid for 1600 RAM, so I would send it back. Doesnt happen often but someone has to be the 1 out of 1000 that gets a faulty component.

a note to consider:

there was a problem with some board (various manufacturers) where you needed to buy only RAM on their qvl list if you wanted to run more than 2GB RAM. This has been sorted for most with a BIOS update. (possible this has occured on newer boards???)

Perhaps try that before finally concluding RAM is faulty. Also could you perhaps try the RAM in the pc where you moved your older RAM to?

Also are you trying to run more or less than 3GB of RAM? If more - 32 bit win OS cant see/work with more, only 64 bit can. This can cause bsod on some hardware/32 bit winOS combos

I've done a bios update on my mobo, and both are part of each others QVL...
I've tried setting it to the XMP profile, which sets my multiplier to 17, BLCK to 160 and ram to it's required settings 1600MHz @ 1.6v with CL7.. Still nothing.
Then I've tried with my OC, where i set my BLCK to 200 and with the ram multiplier making the ram 1600 and i've tried upping to voltage to 1.65 (don't really want to go more..)
Currently I'm sitting with with my OC, and the ram on Auto everything which means it's CL8 1200MHz which I must now power down and see if it powers back up...

And yes i got win7 x64 :) Will try in the other PC, but i swapped cause i wanted it in mine :)

just need to test it in that pc... You dont need to leave it in there.

If same problem occurs then it is most likely the RAM that's faulty.
