Ram keep on dislodging every 3 months or so. Can it be fixed?

Ram keep on dislodging every 3 months or so. Can it be fixed?

You all know the symptoms. The power comes on you see a couple light flash on the case, but nothing on the screen. The first suspect is normally the ram that needs a wiggle or remove it and replace it again. Happy customer.... yeah.:erm:

The only thing is that this pc keep on doing it every couple of months, the pc stops working and everybody panics and the pc is on its way to me.
I've explained what is happening and how to fix it, but every time I look up the box is there.

I have mentioned several times on the forum that I'm from a small town. Now this pc is from another small town and just about travel more between these 2 towns than taxi for this stupid problem.
I've cleaned the ram contacts and the memory slot.
I've checked that the ram has been inserted properly and that the tabs are locked, but no luck. That ram just can't sit still.

Any ideas for me please?
 
Tell them not to lean against the case when they fap.

Duct Tape.
 
If they are putting the PC flat on the table, tell them to make sure the MB is at the bottom....
 
Don't switch the machine off. It is the cold-heat contraction-expansion which works the memory out of its socket.
 
A constructive suggestion, seen you haven't been offered much ..

Could be possibly one or some of the socket contacts of the RAM socket are a little loose making connection onto the module, over time a bit of surface corrosion sets in....

Or possibly a dodge solder connection on the mobo under/on the RAM socket, you wiggle it and it works okay for a while...

Either way not an easy fix.

Maybe it's possible to try the module in another socket?
 
Hmm, RAM really isn't supposed to just dislodge, are you sure the clips are secured properly ???? Those clips dont just unclip, not with temperature changes etc....cannot be.

So, replace the mobo or use super glue.

I've seen this done on expensive server's SATA/SAS and Molex power plugs.

Seriously ... find the source of the vibration - I bet there's a video card fan that is out of kilter or an over-vibrating disk drive.
It's only vibration that can drive these chips out of their slots over time slowly.

So I insert the module and then apply the glue where the module and memory slot meet?

Okay, my Afrikaans back ground just dropped me again. My apologies.:o
The ram module does not actually dislodges from the slot. It just does not make proper contact any more it seems. I need to wiggle it once or twice or remove and reinsert and it will work again.

This might then support one of the theories that there is a dry solder somewhere.

I'm sorry if my choice of words sent out the wrong message, but the memory does not pop out of the memory slot. It stops working like there is no contact.
