Good day

So today I took the pleasure of cleaning my computer (Dust)

And then took everything apart.. assembled everything back together.

Happy happy

BOOM~ Switch on.. BEEEEEEeeEeEEEeeeeP!!!

Ok.. unpack etc etc.. end up realising that it was one of the ram that I have

4GB ram..

2x2GB

Remove the one..

It's fine..

Use both.. BEEEEEEeeEeEEEeeeeP!!!

Now I have used them for like 5 months (Together) already.. So I just want to ask the pros out there what is going on?

I'll understand if it's new ram i'm placing in..

But if it's been fine the last few months.. what could be the problem?

Ok here is my stats if for those that wants to know

(Oh my computer is fine now that it's on one stick)

i3 530
2GB ram (was 4 arg!)
gigabyte mobo H55m

Can anyone help?

Could it be that I accidently killed the ram? (I hope NOT)

Anyway.. thanks for reading..

Forgot to say:

Ram 1 Trancent
Ram 2 Kingston

I dont' know if this is the problem.. but like I said above, I have been using them together for a few months.. o.o

Does both memory modules work on their own?

I'd guess that the modules that you have doesn't have the same latencies or voltage?

Try swapping the modules' position.

If that doesn't work, try fixing the memory timings in the BIOS when you have the 1 memory module in that works.

1. How did you clean out the dust ... vacuum ???

2. Like Pada asked ... does both the modules work when you insert them one at a time ?

3 If you move that module that works to the 2nd slot, does it still work ... eliminating the fact that one of the slots could be faulty/dirty ?

mmm.. I dont' know what that means.. Because I just removed them and then dust them with a brush..

And then put them back on the same slot..

About changing BIOS.. I dont' know how to do that either.. Like when I put both ram in.. the computer doesn't start at all..

it just beeps and then switches off again..

1) Cleaned using a brush

2) I haven't tried that.. only tried it with the Trancent one.. Once it worked, I just left it..

3) Cool.. will try .. switching off now :)

Another thing to try is to clean the contacts on the RAM modules by rubbing them with a pencil eraser. I have done this on "faulty" modules and it does work as it cleans off any oxidation on the copper.

Hey

Just found out that it was the 2nd Slot that has problems.. both ram works fine on the first slot..

Now what?

Can it be fixed? Or must I take it in?

I had this motherboard for just a year.. Bought it last year June.. Think the warrentee is over! Dam gigabyte.. making everything so on the edge.. :(

Cool will try this when I switch off again.. :(

Thanks

Try cleaning that 2nd slot again with a brush ... then take a sharp pencil & lightly rub the lead part in the grove over the contacts to remove any possible oxidation. ;)

I do hope it's nothing serious ;)

PS: I love checking out your threads ... every time I see a new thread by " kaisterkai", I think to myself "omg what did he fu**** up now again" :D

LOL

Dont gigabyte motherboards come with 3Yr warranties?

lol. Yeah thats one of the few things you don't remove for a spring cleaning....nothing good ever comes from it.

Lol.. ~ I actually hate to post.. but

Have to.. mm.. maybe I should start using another nick..

One good one bad ;p

They one of the reasons I like their stuff. Also they are normally solid. Only had problems with 1 board before, but I think the supplier was a bit dodgy. Got t swapped out however no problems.

Now I'm considering getting a new motherboard.. but it's rather expensive to get one..

Cause I dont' want the ones that have 2 slots only (Like the one I have. )

And If i want 4 slots ones, it's R1.5G (P55 asus one)

Which is over from what I can afford.. :(

You mean with computer mania or Gigabyte?

I also don't know if the warrentee is valid if you change things in the computer O.o apparently if you change or do anything to it.. it's "voids" the warrentee.. or something like that..
