Actually, I don't even think it is a case of being powerless, gutless or reluctant. I don't think you can stop it. Its ingrained within the organisation. It is the way things are done.

It is nothing but a feeding scheme.

The ANC "collective" - or being as a thick as thieves - is what drives this.

The masses are conditioned to vote for the hive - and there is enough sheeple to get the ANC in.
We dont choose a president - we choose the party who chooses the president.

As for CR, I agree with @ToxicBunny - I dont think he has the will or desire to make it all right, but has to be seen to doing something. The ANC announcement on corruption only became a thing after COSATU - the worker bee of the collective moaned.

Do your analysis on who what or why, whatever, Ramaphosa is bound by ANC culture just like the rest.
The collective rules no matter what, look at how the top six tried to reign in Mboweni for speaking economic truth.
And nothing, nothing, is worse for one of them being expelled from the collective, so they all toe the line no matter what.
They let Zuma carry on because he was the spear of corruption & they could grab for themselves unhindered under Zuma's plunder.

I have more hope that a nice big IMF bailout with strings attached will force the government to start making positive changes than the ANC ever sorting out corruption in their ranks.
 
I wonder how many who are active in corruption think that it is a crime? A person I know have the view that many believe it is their right, and that it isn't a crime (or corruption) and I also hold this view today as I have said many times that it became a entrenched culture.

It isn't only in politics, it happens in business and any other organisational structure as well. Only that when it comes to politics it usually involves the peoples money.

Nepotism, cronyism, etc. It is bordering close to acceptable behaviour here, and those who are under scrutiny will go at lengths to protect this right.

Just my 2c.

Those strings are likely to be compliant with the NDP, and to encourage it's execution.

I highly doubt ANC will make any positive changes. They would probably try to get more money from China to payback IMF than change. The cadres and family are in it for those millions of rand of tenders. They not there for anything else.
