I was wondering if anybody else has experienced the following while attempting to operate DStv's lame ass decoders.

You try to set the volume and suddenly the channel changes. You try to do anything, but nothing happens, then some interactive OK thing pops up and the decoder tries to complete all the previous commands in a row. You try to change channels and the decoder does the freak out flickering thing and then rescans. While switching channels a reminder will sometimes be randomly set on whatever program is up next.

This isn't just my decoder, I have experienced this at friends and family as well... I was wondering if any other unlucky sods are being frustrated by what seems to be bad programming.

Try and move the decoder forward, normally the line of sight is not 100%. Solved it for me.

I use a Kameleon Universal, and it does tend to do some crazy things when the batteries start running low on Duracell juice. Replacing with new batteries solves the issue for me...;)

hehe, sounds like an HD-PVR, perhaps? :D

Did it work? :)
Afraid not, not completely at least. Some of the problems have disappeared but it still seems to do funny things like go to the TV guide suddenly while changing channels. It's better though so thanks for the handy hints.

No way, I don't like Zerochoice enough to give them that much of my money.

That is the worst, especially when I'm watching something that has been rewinded, I lose some of my show :(

DSTV has always been bad at programming their DSDs (IRDs as they were called in the 90s). My decoder resets every so many keypresses or channel changes. That is I have to reset it myself because it freezes. With the old Pace you could reset from the
remote - with the newer Decoders you have to pull the plug out. My DVD players, VHS
or BluRay player don't reset or ever freeze this way.
