Here's a thread for you guys to tell about interesting/bad/whatever experiences you had with random groups while using the LFG tool. Also gives Acidrazor another thread to complain in :p

Sunday morning I get into HoL with a group that I swear are all e-bay characters.

When I get into a group as healer I always set my focus to the tank so I can target him easier. I usually just check who has the most HP and go with that. So I do the same with this group, although his health was quite low (23k).

Some other numbnut runs ahead pulling a mob and I get all weirded out. Seems that this guy is the tank and he's got about 21k HP. Not to mentions he goes from full health too about 10% in a second, and I was starting to worry. We managed to get through the first two groups with me spamming Nourish like crazy and ignoring everybody else.

Third group we get a wipe. While everybody is recovering I decide to check the pally tanks spec and find out he's Retribution :wtf:. I tell the other teammembers and they ask me what is wrong with that. After making certain from my guild members I tell them that Protection is the tanking spec and Retribution is not going to work.

Their solution is to have the tank switch to sword and shield and they think he now has Protection. I just dropped the group right there.

- Got the combo of impatient healer asking for the group to go faster and slow @ss tank in Pit of Saron =\
- Got a group, again in Pit of Saron, with two DPSers who both did about 900DPS. Tank out-DPSed them with about 1500DPS, I was pushing 6000DPS >_> It took a while...

PS: Dunno about standard UI, but with Pitbull 4 you can get a nice little icon to let you know which role you are in LFG groups. So you can easily find out who the tank is by targeting each group member ;)

sometimes i really get fun groups, where we make the tank, tank in fury with a 2hander and shield we did vh like this morning. mostly its good, but sometimes u get a damn noob people ,like in hor then its just a wipefest :(

I've had mostly good ones, which is saying a lot since I've got the pug pet. :p Then again if you're a semi decently geared tank (rocking about 50% avoidance although hp is a little low at 32k unbuffed, and pushing just over 2k dps in 5mans, which is fun to do as a tank) most of your runs are good, as long as the healer passes you a heal now and then. Now and then a dps spazzes out and does something retarded. As they tend to do

I had one experience where the pally healer told me to put on my shield (I'm a DK). In retrospect, that might have been a jab. Har har mr paladin. U funny gai. We still cleared the place.

There is one now in the standard UI, bit I'm not used to looking at it yet.

Ok, so this might not have been a heroic, but was fun netherless.

Ran with a healer, I am a pala tank, almost 40% avoidance without holy shield at lvl 26. Healer decided I am too easy to heal, so everytime I did some aoe tanking, he would pull another mob from far and run into my consecration for me to get aggro on the new mob.

I must say killing things went way faster, and no one died, and the healer did dps of 1/2 the dps guys, which was fun.

We had a 24k HP tank the other day and I had to really focus on him but we made it through OK. Anything over 32k HP is OK for me but I get really excited when they hit 40K.

With the release of the new LFG tool I decided that it was time to move from being shadow main spec and focus on healing. Now I originally only played as a healing priest back in the day but after a year of not playing and then doing only shadow for the bulk of my time now it was quite a new experience. So far I think I have been doing well, haven't had a group wipe on me thus far, saving up all my new shiny emblems to change my kit to disc focussed.

What has made my life difficult so far though:

Random PUG in which nobody actually focussed on the tanks target, he would mark everything before pulling and everyone would still go off on a tangent. The tank even started begging people to get their targets right after a while.

My dislike for DK's has increased dramatically, when I get into a group with a DK I know I may as well make them my focus because they will go off on a tangent.

Deadly Boss Mods needs to be made a part of the ingame UI! Too many people just don't know what is happening in a fight!

Things I like:
Warrior Tanks :) To me they just keep aggro so much better than anything else, paladin's and DK's specifically.
Getting a PUG with people on my gear level, steamroll FTW!

Strange. My experience has been that when it coems to aoe tanking, pally's and dk's rule the roost. Granted, the few times i've run with the occasional warrior tank in my guild (only 2 i can think of), they've been able to handle loads of adds. But my experience with warrior tanks in general otherwise has been that nothing, but NOTHING peels loose mobs off a warrior tank faster than my mage spamming blizzard.

I think the frustration with dk and some pally tanks in random pugging is that I suspect a number of dps dk's and retlol pallehs have perhaps taken on a tank spec in order to get groups and farm emblems faster, but if you don't know what you're doing even easy heroics will result in overgeared dps pulling aggro everywhere , your gear being improper, etc. You can't just make a 2nd spec, pic up some gear and bam, you're a tank. Doesn't work that way.

I got a guy during a random pug, tauren resto shammy, say in party chat a few days ago that it was nice to run with a dk tank who knows what they're doing. I guess we're pretty rare. Looks like not many of us chose this class because we wanted to actually tank.

warrior tanks are ok with aoe tanking it just takes a lot more effort too keep agro then it does for a pallie or a dk. Spamming thunderclap tab cleaving and shockwave does the trick :)

fun heroic VH the other day the healer pallie went ret and we where basicly 1 tank and 4 dps. Went really fast :P

In contrast with the experience I had the last time with a low level tank, I had another 24K HP Tank yesterday and he/she was acting like they had been doing it forever. After they started giving me **** because we wiped I just ditched them.

The thing is that a little humility goes a long way in this game and when your healer has almost as many HP as your tank you should really be nicer to him.

In fact you should be nice to you healer all the time no matter how crap they are because they are the ones keeping you alive.

Stroppy players get my goat.

Damn. I do more than that when I switch to Feral DPS but keep my healing kit on. Do about 900 - 1000 DPS.

That is shamefully low but the people I was with were a) not phased and b) asked me to switch to DPS so someone else could heal, so I was not to bothered.

You could probably do the same without any gear. The only thing that would have increased your dps is the FAP on your weapon, and those are crap :p

As for that warlock, you probably spammed the spell with the longest cooldown.

Yesterday I found out that my fishing pole (from Kaluak) has a higher gearscore rating than my staff I used for healing :wtf:. For some reason, no matter how many HC's I run, I don't get a good weapon or cloak.

Day or so ago I ran PoS and HoR and picked up, from 2 runs
-Black Icicle
-Orca Hunters Harpoon

Past couple days I've picked up everything i wanted there. Got Needle Encrusted Scorpion. Got Nighttime. So looks like I'm done with the new 5mans, short of running them for guildies. I suppose If I wanted Tyrannical Beheader for pimp purposes, or Falrics Wrist Chopper and Rimefangs Claw for dual-wield tanking... Otherwise all that's left now is to farm badges for my dps set. Tank spec is basically as good as it can get short of raid drops.

Place was a blast though. But for farming badges, it's quicker to just pug the easy stuff.

I dislike FoS. I've run it three times now and died twice with the first boss. Both of the times I got feared into the soulstorm thing he does. Last time I actually survived, only to get feared again right after.
