Ok help me out here.

If Matrix Warehouse have a pricelist on their website , with price X for windowsXp.Home , why can't i buy it as is.

I pitched up at a local branch - wanting to help a customer who wants to get rid of win.vista due to compatibility problems with older software (vista.home not covered by license downgrade option) - the lady tells me : "sorry sir - we have to install that and there is going to be additional costs"

took my business elsewhere..

i just feel that if they don't have fine print then its mine if i have the cash.

Problem I had this week was that the price for a DVD writer on their website is R269 and when I went to the store it's R299. Just bought it elsewhere.

Which branch did you go to? Go to the Head Office in Alberton if you can.

But I actually saw WinXP cheaper at InterComputers in Alberton.

absolutely nothing on their pricelist.

not stating DSP/RETAIL/OEM - nothing

just windows xp home R xxx
windows xp pro R xxx

thats it..

so imho it is false advertising!

matrix warehouse are always full of ****.

i went to buy thermal paste, went to compuzone 2 shops down, they had a tube for R25, only one left got it, thought i might need extra, walked into matrix, they have a tube for R55, i decide to leave it , arrogant twat remarks at me " its the same price everywhere, buy it"

friend wanted to buy a computer, we went into matrix, got all the components except for ram, asked for ram, told it was not on the stock so they can't sell it, ram is lying on the desk ****er too lazy to either make a plan or put it in stock, we ask him well leave the cash for the ram, he can just do the purchase tomorrow once they put it on the system, guy gives us attitude, we dump their computer , walk to compuzone 2 shops down and buy an entire computer there.

im in the shop looking for a new processor, their core 2 duo E6700 2.66hgz is R3499 for just the CPU

i can walk into zones and buy an entire machine, gig of ram, hdd, mobo, box, and core 2 duo E8400 2.66hgz for R3299, salesman says i'm smoking something and dunno what i'm talking about

Had a friend that worked at Matrix(one of the girls they seem to like putting behind the counters to look pretty and sell things with their looks) she told me their prices are basically out of whack because of the commission that's paid to the sales people. So you have a case of where Matrix purchase at price x, add their profit margin, add the sales persons commission

Report things like that to the ASA, it only takes a minute or two to fill out the online form.

They will be forced to correct it and help prevent bogus adverts taking up peoples time, as happened with you.

If the advertised price still isn't correct you can easily do it here..

RE Price Online cheaper than store.

1. Web pricing is always going to be cheaper than store pricing. Take a look at incredible connection, because it is to promote online shopping. Reason: it cost less to sell the stock over the internet than to keep it on the shelve in the store.

2. Sales person get a piece of the commission of the item that is for sale. He's commission is not added to the price. It is a hard living for an IT Sales person cause he only gets about 1 - 5% commission of the profit of that product. So put yourself in his shoes next time you complain.

Chances are they had a recovery disc for the Vista. These days only a retail version of an M$ OS comes on cd/dvd. If you buy a pc you get a recovery disc/partition and you can only install that on the exact same model pc (for piracy reasons). Maybe it's the same in this case and they need to get recovery discs for you?

Well, I must say. I've bought lots of stuff from Matrix Warehouse over the past few years and I can't complain about prices or service.

I dont buy from any other computer shops anymore.

Thats Because you dont understand how matrix works if a pricelist comes out and the prices have droped, They sit with the stock that was bout before the new pricelist so to still make a profit or to break even they hafto sell it as the price it was before.

Places like PC International and Rectron also sit with stock, though the moment they release an updated pricelist where the prices are lower they sell it at that price. Why should Matrix be any different?

Welcome to the forums, by the way :)

True but if matrix alberton hasent got stock of an item lets say (dvd Writer) The franchises hasto order in those items at suppliers and thier prices vary so the cost of that item is R10 less than the stated price on the website then they oveously hafto mark their product up?
