Good Day Everyone
Im going to be as straight forward about my enquire and explain everything in detail.
From the 1st of January I finally moved from a 5Gig cap (348kb) to uncapped.
Im with Internet Solutions / Deunet / Uncapped - Shaped - 348kb now
Since today (19 Jan ) I downloaded around 12 Gigs of stuff.

I mainly use Rapidshare (Server based in Switzerland) as my source of Download since it contains several media that are otherwise un-findable (no Torrents, no Direct Downloads, No P2P sharing)
Im specializing in downloading German Comedy Series and TV Shows (Which are legal to download, since its originating from a Free TV channel)

Im using 2 Rapidshare Downloaders which put the file links in a list and queue them (CryptLoad + FreeRapid). They work very well for that purpose and yet again - are legal, for free and fully automatic.

2 Days ago I apparently have been "Bandwidth Throttled" and can only download very slow.
My original download speed was 40kbps constantly. Now with the shaping system I only get 10kbps on a constant. I understand how this stupid communistic shape system is working, but Im sure there is a way around it for my purpose.

Im ONLY downloading stuff from YouTube and Rapidshare. Nowhere else.
Is there a way to set a port forwarding or something to enable full unshaped speed for those 2 programs?
You can have a look at these programs, they have a very in depth setting section where alot of internet functions are being mentioned. Too bad Im a noob and only understand 10% of it.

:confused::wtf::confused:

IS throttle if your in the top 20% downloaders group of your package, move to mweb or openweb gold, if don't want to be thortled.

I wish I could change the ISP that easily.
Im using the Home service (Paid by my mom lol)
The thing is - We have several emails with Deunet (Our ISP), including Business emails.
Changing our ISP would mean ALOT of chance, which isnt really an option right now.

aha damn, but sadly, thats is how they make sure you don't abuse the bandwidth :(

they are pretty insane though 12gb is like nothing, they should make it like 30gb or so.

you are using Premium RS account?

also, places like Mweb also throttle file hosts like Rapidshare and Megaupload during the day, though I have seen some people mention on the slow 384 line they get full speeds even during day.

I have a secondary capped account with Afrihost and even though it is also IS based, I get my full speed with them, even during the day.

however on my Mweb uncapped I get throttled, sometimes really badly, during the day time.

SO what happens if I just keep my downloads running for the rest of the month, non stop at those stupid 10kbps? Will IS do something to me for doing that?

from the looks of things, you may just get throttled even more :(

just watch out as, although I could be mistaken, Mweb ie can cancel your account if it is deemed as "being abused" or even if you do something to "circumvent" shaping restrictions.

Yes I'm German and I download German TV series bcauz I already got 12TB and there is nothing in English that I already dont have.

And yet again - I got MOAR throttled. From 40kbps standard to 1st level 10kbps to 2nd level 3kbps and then I just stopped downloading and I wait till next month.
I pay less then capped tho. So its 5Gigs vs 20Gigs. R300 vs R250. Still a win in my opinion.
Too bad no one could answer my question about "a way around rapidshare server throttling".

It is not only Rapidshare that is throttled, it is your adsl line. You will find that everything is slow as hell...

recently yes, but not before.

lately everything has been slow, but before I could get full speed on Fileserve.

RS is amongst one of the many file hosts that gets throttled.

my MU and HF also get throttled badly during day and sometimes even till late at night.

The only ways around it would circumvent shaping policies, which are against the ToS.

I've told MWEB about one such way around without any kind of trickery, but it seems I can still abuse it ( though I don't, as a general rule. )

Expect them to close it up in the next few days anyway :)
