If you are looking for a stand alone app you can try rapget (http://www.rapget.com/en/index.html). It was designed specifically for rapidshare links, but now supports a whole range of file hosting services (megaupload etc). It also supports free and premium accounts. I have been using it very successfully for over 4 years now.
If you have a premium account you can also use downthemall, a firefox extension that will download from rapidshare if you have saved your rapidshare login cookie (by logging into the premium zone).
Finally on linux there is an app called rapidshare-dl (google search it), but that only works if you have a premium account.
Cryptload is good, even has a link collector so if there are a number of RS links in a page of text you can highlight the lot and click copy, all the links are collected by Cryptload into 1 download page.
