Rapidshare

As i understand, Rapidshare limits you to 25GB per 5 days.

I have a premium account, but what seems to be the problem is that we all share the same damn IP. I've only downloaded 2.5GB from rapidshare this month, but im banned till the 6th day, cos obviously all of us put together have downloaded 25GB in the past 5 days.

I've tried using HIDE IP Platinum but it doesnt seem to do the job.

Does anyone know how to get a diff IP?

I also have a premium account with RS and do not have that problem, I guess it must be the proxy you guys have in JHB thats causing the problem.

Best to get hold of Shaun Green and have a chat with him about it.

EDIT: just thought about it and what you say does not make sense since for anyone to use up your alloted amount with RS they need your logon name and password of your premium account even if they have the same IP.

Well dude, how else is it possible to get an error from RS site like this:

' You have downloaded more than 25 GB in the last 5 days exceeding your download limit. In the last 5 days you have downloaded 25381 MB. '

I know for a fact that i've only downloaded 2.5GB. So maybe RS picks up how much one IP address downloads, and not an individual account holder.

Doesn't make sense.

Firstly you can change your IP by resetting your modem and the only way RS won't let you download because they say you've used up your 25GB is a) you are sharing your account with other people or b) maybe someone has hacked your account details.

41.208.238.xxx

I added the "xxx" at the end as I do not feel like changing IP right now, but thats the range we use in CT for the last few months.
Before that we were also on 196.xxx.xxx.xxx

I think its b. Dont share my account.

I get that 196 Ip all the time. its obviously a set one.

balls, ill just have to wait til day 6.

What you could try is logging OFF your account from the RS website, then change IP and logon again and then try to download, if that fails then I'd say what I said in my previous post about sharing the RS account or a hacked username/PWD.

I can understand when using RS without a premium account that they will block a certain IP, but with having a premium account you need your logon details to download from the premium account, so I repeat what you say does not make sense to me.

If anyone else knows the reason why this is happening maybe they will reply here.

Do yourself a favour and logon to your premium account and CHANGE your LOGON details name/PWD.

If they say you used 25GB from that account and you are sure you have not then your account has been hacked for sure.

I just ran a test here with 4 PCs' on my network and for me to be able to download using my premium account I had to logon with each PC (I do not save my logon details on 3 of them), that sorta proves that your account details are been used by someone else.

K, i just found out what the problem is; Rapidshare just emailed me.

The fact that im using a download manager with rapidshare confuses the traffic counter on their systems.

They are aware of this problem, and are writing a new Rapidshare Download Manager not to have the problem in the future.

They've really hardcapped me, my downloads from RS arent even reaching 2KB/s.

Use FlashGet for downloading from RS, just remember to add your username and pwd in FlashGet otherwise your downloads will be corrupt.

I use it all the time without any download failures.

That's weird since it does not have that problem with my account at RS.

As for speeds well with FG I get 100 to +110kbps during the day and between +100 to +135kbps at night, and I doubt it would get any better than that.

EDIT: maybe your problem is with IDM since RS recommend GetRight or FlashGet even though I've been using FG long before I had my RS account.

Oops, I see they also recommend IDM and GoZilla so scrap my first edit.

To add to this, I was able to download from the .com without an account.

Yes you can download from there without an account except you can't use a download manager and your download speed will be a lot slower.

Well, technically you can use a download manager. It just has to be set to only use one thread and you can't pause or resume anyway. So its not that useful..

True but then there is no point using the manager as your speed will be the same as without it.

Actually I find IDM (great download manager) gets faster speeds even on one thread than using FF or IE default download managers.

Its also just nice not to have to keep FF/IE open the whole time your download runs, especially when you are capped and things take hours or days.
