Rapport - Guy beats dog with baseball bat?

What transpired in this case is indicative of the lack of respect for the welfare of animals and the general apathy displayed by the organization most people believe will assist them in cases of abuse, neglect etc.

The current APA is just as toothless and ineffectual at holding perpetrators to account when they are caught. A case in point is the man who cut off his husky's head. He was fined. However in that case karma did catch up to him. The there is the case of the teacher who dragged his dog behind his car. He too got off with a slp on the wrist.

There are countless cases in court at the moment where people like this are defending their actions of neglect and abuse even though it is clear that they are guilty. As the saying goes, money talks and obfustication clouds the waters.

Yeah, agreed there. It really is pathetic....words actually escape me :(

CF, whilst I applaud your resolve to start such a venture, I would caution you against placing any information on a public forum that cannot be 150% substantiated. We have pending cases amounting to large sums against us for information published and this is substantiated information. Lets not even go into the amount of death threats we are subjected to as well as verbal and physical abuse.

This is not an easy game.

Yeah I know...thats why I wanna check with this friend / colleague of mine. Not gonna just start something if its not legal. He is the go to guy with regards to this kinda stuff...so if anyone knows, it will be him.

If he says its fine...and I do go with it...will take things as they come. Maybe a blog is the way to go first instead of a full blown website, I dunno. Will see. Thanks for your input....much appreciated ;)

Just chatted to him. Says creating a website is fine, but any details I add on, must have grounding. So I said the idea is to basically quote news websites & newspapers, with a link back to the original source. So basically, if I add information on someone to a website, and I always have a link to where I got this information, he said he doesnt see a problem.

If the offender wants me to remove it, its up to me as Im not the original source of the information. Only if the original source gets a request to remove the news article on their website, would I most likely have to remove it on mine.

So at the moment it seems like its doable. Added...he said if I need help with anything, I must just ask. So I have his backing for other legal queries etc.

So thats good news!! The plan forward...

...is to think up a domain name. Then register the domain with my hosting company I use. They cheap and its a great package and give ample more than I need for a domain. Im a web developer by trade in classic ASP...so gonna need to think up a simple design. Unfortunately as Im a developer...I dont have the greatest design skills...but should be able to come up with something.

So ja...thats the plan :D

Sadly this woof was put 'down'

Lombard, the SPCA chap who authorised it, said he was led to believe the woof was aggressive! He only saw the CCTV footage of the dog being attacked by that hick from Middelburg after the dog's death. How can the SPCA put a dog down on 'hearsay'? There are tests to check if a dog is aggresive - learn from the USA where the pitbull breed is under so much attack! Do we live in lala land? Man attacks dog - dog is unconcious - dog is removed by SPCA - dog is put down by SPCA based on hearsay! Jeeezzz - I'm spitting mad here.

Please sign the petition so that the attacker gets the book thrown at him.

Also leave a comment on the news story I posted there - you have to be a member - but it is high time South Africans join this fantastic activist site.

Also, I urge South African members to become members of Care2.com. It is the world's biggest animal rights activists site - and tons of tools there! We need your presence folks - this is one kick arse site.

Become a member - and link to me - see my profile link in my signature and then add me as a friend. The rest of the world is way ahead of us South Africans on making animal abuse public - and for sure, once we actually know the name of the attacker - it will be posted at Care2 - we have no qualms about naming and shaming.

Jeeez Unipulse those are some horrific pics on your profile, I feel like puking up my dinner. Keep up the good work.

So as I see it the only thing the dog did was to walk around on its own and wet a tyre, which is what male dogs do. Then for this crime, together with it wanting to be friends, which is normally the case when a dog jumps up... the poor thing gets beaten senseless - would think that the person does not understand dogs, was scared by its size and totally over reacted, the fact that the dog was put down is particularly bitter - punishment? honey and ants... or realistically a fine and community service at some animal care place
