Hi All,

Found a raspberry pi project I would like to give a go and wondered if it was available anywhere in SA?

There is a kit "bundled free with the print edition of The MagPi 57"

https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/57/

Its a Do-It-Yourself AI kit based on the Google Assistant SDK.
Do any magazine stores hold The MagPi or are any sites selling the AIY Project Kit only?

Anyone know one can source the AIY kit in SA?

Prefer to use the kit than diy pi (need a polished product for my project).

Im keen to import a few kits from ebay/amazon and perhaps sell them locally. So if you're interested, let me know. Unless you've found a place selling these locally?

It's a bit steep, cost about R350 per kit all in - bought 3 to try. Much cheaper than pishop R580 (also out of stock). It's the old version of the kit sans pi zero wh and preloaded SD card. (I actually didn't know there was a difference at the time and just impulsively pulled the trigger)

I'm not entirely sure its worth it or you could just do it yourself. Sneaking suspicion the voice board is doing some signal preprocessing that I won't be able to do DIY. Need to get some pi zero w's from pishop and sd cards.

PS: I may not need all 3, if I decide I don't, I will let you know (at cost).

Charges (Prob handling fee, tax):
Item(s) Subtotal: ZAR 650.84
Shipping & Handling: ZAR 224.38
Total before tax: ZAR 975.32
Estimated tax to be collected:ZAR 0.00
Import Fees Deposit ZAR 100.10
Grand Total:ZAR 975.32

Probably won't use all 3. So if anyone wants one, up for grabs at cost.

Got it up and running today. Pretty cool. Also got the google cloud trial to mess around with.

Just a note for reference, that on the latest build it seems the v1 has an issue with the audiotest.py doesn't work. Not sure if this was the solution but it seemed to work:

sudo dtoverlay googlevoicehat-soundcard
https://github.com/google/aiyprojects-raspbian/issues/255

Won't fix the audiotest.py script, but the demos worked after.

Correction or alternative. https://github.com/google/aiyprojects-raspbian/issues/255

I did not find the config file mentioned in link above, but apparently if you create it as given in the link, everything should work.
