Got my raspberry, downloaded the xbmc software and loaded it onto the SD.
Hooked up my mini wireless keyboard / mouse that came with the mede8er and its working.
Gonna finish installation when i get home (my uncapped it hardcapped during office hours oO).
Very impressed with this little device so far.

Next I am going to try load a nintendo emulator.

i was wondering how the performance is? all the videos seemed to suggest that it just about runs xbmc. does it feel laggy and slow?

do you get the same expereince as MediaPortal?

What distro have you got on? Thinking of trying Rasbmc or Openelec with XBMC.

I think its not going to be a permanent solution. Its just been done as an example of what it can do, it works though.

I'm also going to make it an emulator for old games.

Looks like you can use an Xbox controller quite easily.

Why OSMC?
Free and open source

OSMC is free and open source. That’s not just ‘free as in beer’ but also free in the sense that you are free to do what you want with the software. OSMC is licensed under version 2 of the GPL. Anyone is free to use OSMC and its code, but should they make any changes, they should contribute them back to the OSMC project. This fits in perfect with our development philosophy. OSMC is great because it’s built on great software with the same values.

Five minute install

We’re proud that you can install OSMC on a number of devices (find out what ones here) in just a matter of minutes. Our easy installer is what separates OSMC from other media center products out there. We’re always happy to help as well if you run in to any trouble.

Automatic updates and an app store

You’ll receive regular updates which make OSMC better every month. You can choose when (and if) you’d like to install updates, as well as install new apps via our app store. The best thing? Everything in our app store is free! Get a torrent client, web browser and TV tuner up in seconds. All from your remote!

Loaded the Alpha release on my PI and 9sec boot time, 7sec reboot time, pretty snappy for alpha release.
