For us, the petrol price resulted in a bigger saving monthly then the interest rate cut.

So spend it yay!! Like winning the Lotto!!
*thats unfortunalty how some people are thinking this time of year...

Then people are dumber then I thought. Our family has said that we are only giving token Christmas presents.

Yip, I think you give the general population too much credit. I think people see this as the beginning of the rate cut cycle and the little birdie telling them to save, just flew straight into the window and died from his injuries. JK8 makes a valid point about the petrol price as well. Including this, your average middle-class household might have an additional R1000pm to blow now. We are not a nation of savers, and our recent interest rate hikes won't have changed this. We've been hit worse before, and what good did that do? We're an immature nation of consumers...

Don't worry about me DJ.
Saving R120 pm on the bond, and car is on a car scheme, so not worried about petrol.

Now if the cost of jet fuel could come down, that would be rather good. :)

Phew, good to hear. I really have been worried...:p

You planning on holding your breath? When last did you hear of an airline passing on savings to their customers? Oh hang on - you like to pretend to be the pilot sometimes - I see where you're coming from now...:D

Although sentiment will be improved at this time of year, the cut will not put money into the consumer's pocket until their next salary.
