Hey guys,

So I currantly have the following rig:
AMD FX 8350
16GB Ram
SSD
1080 GFX card
Thermaltake Toughpower 600W PSU from 2009 (probably time for a new one eh?)

I work primarily with Cinema 4D and After Effects. In After Effects especially, that CPU just isn't cutting it. With huge scenes, the viewport is slow, laggy, and render times are long.

My Plan is to throw away the cpu, mobo and ram (or find a willing buyer :P ) And replace it with a modern skylake system. So my build is as follows:

Skylake 6700K from esquire

Cant decide on these two Mobo's:

32GB Ram:

PSU:

So what would you folks do in the same position? Would the extra money be worth putting in a 6800K (overall difference doesn't look like that much). Is that ram worth it, or should I go with a faster variety?

How??? I have a 6700.

Somewhere in bios should be multiplier setting which should be able to set to x40 to run to run at 4ghz .Might be limited to some boards ,did not have much time to play around with the chip yet.

I forced my i5 4570 to run at max turbo speed 24/7 with msi h97 gaming.

I think I set my 4790 to 4.1ghz via the bios, you go to the OC part and set it to permanent boost.
ASUS Z97K Mobo btw.

EDIT:
fug ninja'd

EDIT:
They go for around R3600 from me or potterh over at carbonite.co.za

If I may ask, how are you guys getting them so cheap? I got my 4790 from potterh and it came in a banky, put the serial into the intel warranty site and nothing came up, what are these chips history?

Not worried about power consumption?

Id rather let speedstep manage the cpu.

I don't know where he gets it.

I purchase it from potterh also at reduced price and add my markup

Still worries me considering my motherboard turned out to be stolen goods from carbonite.

Yeah, I'd rather go for the K version. It allows manual overclocking, comes from a reputable source, and has a way higher base clock speed.
