Rattles

I went to test drive a vehicle yesterday morning that I really liked. But the vehicle has rattles from 2 places. The centre console and the door where the window controls are.

I told the salesman I will not finalise the finance agreement if those rattles are still present.

The car is a 4 year old with 50000 km. I'll be buying from the agent's certified approved pre-owned vehicles.

Can rattles be repaired? or be omitted somehow?

This is what I received from the agent. I'll go drive the vehicle again later today and hear if the rattles are sorted.

Is the car a Mercedes by any chance? Rattles are standard on those.

wait till its a year or 2 old, those Rattles will be back,
ALL Modern cars rattle it just depends how well they are/aren't built.

Another common problem is broken pieces of glass after break in / smash and grab that the glass people don't bother cleaning.

Rattles can be a real bitch to troubleshoot.

Can rattles be repaired?

depends on the rattle, a friend of mine is obsessed with rattles, triggers the hell out of him so in the past when he bought a fairly new BMW he was constantly at the dealership to have it looked at and repaired

and boy they did try, eventually ripped out pretty much the entire interior and painstakingly put individual pieces back with fresh glue and/or insulation etc

but some rattles remained despite all of that

Was gifted a 2002 1.6 VW Jetta Comfortline (automatic). and the only rattle so far was my window mounted cellphone cradle.

Took me an hour to work out I put the rattle into the car myself

I hate rattles as well, my wife's car started to develop a rattle somewhere in the last week, it sounds like it's coming from the sunroof. Might check if I can fix it myself somewhere in the next few weeks. Car is 8 years old with 160k on, so it is getting a bit old now.

Rattle still present after the agent found the apparent cause of the rattle.

Looks like we're going to pass on this vehicle. Salesman said he drove to confirm no rattles are present. But when I drove the vehicle just before 5pm today, same rattles were there.
