Would love to see that!

Think it's going to be a great tournament, but the smart money I guess has to be on England. They've been unstoppable under EJ. Definitely making a note of the Ireland/England match and I think it's fitting that it's the last game of the tournament as it could very well prove to be a decider. Hope both teams are at full strength going into it.

I was just looking at the fixtures and thinking the exact same thing. (except I was thinking Ireland could do Scotland a favour while we bury Italy the same day :D )

But yeah, it's shaping up to be a cracker and I can't see past England winning it with their new found sense of purpose.

Ireland has the home ground advantage though. Final game, home soil, England better be prepared against the giant slayers. My money is on the Roses.

Wales may struggle a bit, also knowing that Gatland's priorities are with the Lions. Italy may have a chance.

Currently playing for Stade Francais in the French Top 14 competition, Parisse has appeared 121 times for his country.

France have named four uncapped players in their RBS 6 Nations squad, with Louis Picamoles the only player in the 32-man selection who plies his trade outside his native country.

Jamie Joseph on taking on the French,

The test, slated for Nov. 25 at a venue yet to be specified, gives Jamie Joseph's squad yet another challenge in what promises to be an exciting year for Japanese rugby fans.

"Japan has played nine test matches against France in the past but has yet to win," Joseph said. "As this game in November becomes a milestone, with it being a 10th game, I would like to prepare for a great performance and hopefully celebrate with a win.

"French rugby is known as 'French Flair.' I'd like to think we have our own Japanese flair to match them."

Yeah, time will tell...

Eddie Jones says England's injury woes will benefit the squad in the long term

Eddie Jones believes England's injury woes could help the squad in their quest to win the World Cup in 2019.

Influential back-row pair Billy Vunipola and Chris Robshaw will miss the Six Nations with injuries, while loosehead props Mako Vunipola and Joe Marler have been ruled out of at least the first two rounds.

They are not Jones' only injury concerns in his forward pack, with second-row George Kruis unlikely to recover from a fractured cheekbone to play for Saracens against Toulon on Saturday, while flanker James Haskell is recovering from being knocked out making a tackle 35 seconds into his long-awaited comeback from a toe injury.

Jones, however, is far from concerned and sees this as the perfect opportunity to develop the depth he feels he will need if he is to build a squad capable of winning the World Cup.

"To win the World Cup, you need 31 Test-class players," Jones told Sky Sports News HQ. "That means you have players who have played at the highest level and have proven themselves under pressure.

"These injuries give us a chance to develop more talent."

I must give it to Jones, he hunts the positives.

Jones sticks with tried and tested

Eddie Jones sprang few surprises when he announced his 34-man Six Nations squad on Friday, with three uncapped players included and a recall for prop Ellis Genge, the only man drafted in from the Elite Player Squad.

The fiery 21-year-old Genge, who has one cap as a replacement, could go straight on to the bench for the opening game against France at Twickenham on February 4, with Matt Mullan expected to start at loosehead in the absence of injured Mako Vunipola and Joe Marler.

Marler is included in the squad but will not play for several weeks as he recovers from a broken leg.

Uncapped Nathan Catt of Bath offers another prop option, while Leicester back rower Mike Williams and Saracens back Alex Lozowski are the two other uncapped players.

There are also returns for James Haskell, Maro Itoje, Anthony Watson, Jack Clifford and Jack Nowell, who all missed the autumn tests through injury.

Hooker Dylan Hartley is expected to start and captain the side despite not playing for his club since being banned for a dangerous tackle in mid-December.

Johnny Sexton and uncapped Munster trio included in Six Nations squad

Joe Schmidt has named a 40 man squad for the opening two rounds of the 2017 Six Nations Championship.
Johnny Sexton is among the 40 despite picking up a calf injury at the weekend.

Leinster coach Leo Cullen had appeared reasonably confident after Friday night’s Champions Cup draw with Castres that Sexton’s calf injury - which forced his withdrawal after 21 minutes - would not jeopardise his involvement in the Six Nations.

Uncapped Munster trio, Niall Scannell, Andrew Conway and Rory Scannell are also included.

Venter commits to Italy until 2019

Rome - Former Springbok centre Brendan Venter has joined Italy as defence coach, the Italian rugby federation announced on Monday.

The former Saracens boss, regarded as one of the most astute figures in the game, was part of the South Africa side that won the 1995 Rugby World Cup.

The 47-year-old qualified doctor joins Italy coach Conor O'Shea's management staff in a deal that runs until the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

"I played and worked with Brendan at London Irish and I think this is the best possible deal for us and for him," said O'Shea.

Venter's expertise has already proved beneficial to Italy as he worked alongside O'Shea on an ad hoc basis for the autumn Tests when the team inflicted an historic defeat on South Africa.

"Brendan has had a great impact on the group and in the way we defended (against South Africa) and we are excited to be working with him for years to come.

"He's a coach who is respected by the whole international rugby scene and we are proud that he chose to join our project until the next Rugby World Cup."

Laidlaw: Squad is one of Scotland's best yet

The fly-half was speaking at the Hurlingham Club in London at the launch of the RBS 6 Nations alongside coach Vern Cotter who will relinquish the reins of the national side in the summer.

Before that though, Scotland will be looking to make a serious impact in this year's Championship starting with Ireland at Murrayfield in Round One.

And Laidlaw is confident the squad has the depth to cope with an intense two-month tournament.

He said: "I believe we are starting to get more strength in depth, and for me personally I feel it's the strongest squad we have had.

"But we are not getting ahead of ourselves we have not won any games yet.

"It's important to get a fast start, the competition is only five games so to start well is important.

"Ireland are very much the form side with England, we need to play extremely well and we are determined to do that. We are delighted to play at BT Murrayfield we sold the tickets out in record time."

He has been playing behind the scrum since 2013, though he has never stopped taking the goal kicks. I wish them the best, with Wales still searching to rally they may have a good chance at third place on the log. Then there are the Italians on the rise...
