Hi,

I'm looking for a shop in capetown or an online store where i can buy pre-build RC cars, petrol or electric. Not the plastic toy cars.

I like speed, so the RC car must go uptoo 60km/h

Willing to spend uptoo R3000 for the whole setup.
This might be my new hobby, so I want to get started collecting the cars.

Does anyone have one of these?

Please excuse if this is in the wrong section, but I thought it might fit because we talking about a miniature cars.

There's a RC shop which specializes in these things in Durbanville, close to Tygervalley.

It's below Eastwoods at Tyger Manor - the same place where McDonald's is in Durban Road.

I wanted to get one but they are quite expensive I imagine.

But its cool to race against others. :)

Thanks I'll have a look in durban road.

Yeah this might be an expensive hobby, but very fun!!
I also loved the RC cars when I was a kid, used to own quite a few, but this time I want to get something real.

I don't have suggestions on where to purchase these.

I enjoy the nitro powered machines, but I found it a hassle to get the 30% full synthetic fuel in PE, which I used for my cars and heli, so if I was buying again I'd have a close look at the electrics.
The batteries, motors, motor controllers, and rapid chargers for the electrics have developed considerably in the past few years, making them well worth a look.

I was looking into the nitro powered ones too, but have decided the electric ones will be a better deal. But don't think the battery will last very long

Yep I know about the one in Durban road...and the one in Century city?

Also try get hold of D10 RC drifters in CT...ask on car forums, they'll be able to assist you!

As with everything, you get what you pay for - the best batteries these days are the LiPo and then you need an electronically controlled rapid field charger which will allow you to be racing again within a few minutes - with nitro you just dump another load of fuel in the tank with the engine still running.
If you go for top of the range batteries, radio transmitter & receiver, motor, motor controller, field charger, and car, ............ you'll definitely need to reconsider your budget.

LOL I thought of getting the PS3 last month when I got my Plasma...I need a game on there early....had an xbox for month, sold it, now I want one again...but back to the topic...RC cars are like weak ejaculators...fun WHILE IT LASTS

Whatever you do dont get an Alfa RC car, they come with there own pit crew and have a 1:1 breakdown per kilometer ratio garuanteed! :)

LOL don't get a BMW RC car, they don't turn left when you want them too, they don't signal, on a race track, they will force opponents off the course...it will come with a permanent arm hanging out of the drivers window with a cigarette in hand!!!

and it comes with RC Motorplan and an optional ///M sportspack if you buy the poverty spec one

haha how awesome, a little 320 estate station wagon that drives out from the side of the track when you run out of fuel or pop a tire
