Yeah I was gonna mention the same place. They seem to have some really cool stuff. Also below Jimmys Prawns isn't it, right next to McDonalds in the Tyger Manor complex, you should give them a try.

Checkers had a shweet special on official Ferrari F1 RC's last year, bought me the F2008 with Kimi in it for R200 :D handling is **** but its flipping fun to play with

I have some experience with rc-cars and have gone through some tough times finding parts for my LST in SA

Denkit hobbies (they are situated in Durban, but mail stuff everywhere) are the best people to go to. They are importers of a few products and they are very helpful and pretty cheap too.

They have a nice site, but calling them was my best way of getting stuff ordered and finding out about different parts and cars, the people are very helpful.

oh yeah, i forgot... Don't go electric...

not nearly as fun as nitro. And monster trucks don't break as easily... I have the losi LST2 and it is awesome, but the HPI trucks are very very very durable (still waiting for my dad's truck to break) and the savage XL is massive.

You can get the LST2 in electric brushless motors too, from what I have heard. they are just as awesome!

the savage XL is exxxpensive!!

im talking about the LST2 (monster truck 1:8 scale)

and the XL is expensive indeed :p (its an expensive hobby) But thats the fun part of the nitro cars, if something breaks down, you can tear it apart and rebuild and get all greasy and dirty, learn some new things... (at least, when i tore mine apart the first time, i didnt know a thing about it) when i was done, i knew exactly how everything worked and how to fix it.

Cool, I guess having a nitro will help to learn how the stuff work with each other etc.

This weekend I'm gonna shop around for a RC, will let you know what my options are
 
Does anyone have a list of tracks/good areas around Sandton/randburg, JHB north where one can go and have fun with the RC car (nice track at K90 in Boksburg, but a bit too far to go often)?
 
The best batteries these days are the LiPo and then you need an electronically controlled rapid field charger which will allow you to be racing again within a few minutes - with nitro you just dump another load of fuel in the tank with the engine still running. For more information click here.
