Hi all, I have the 650 RCT UPS (the cheapest one) powering my fish tank filter. The filter is 5 watt, load is showing 0% and according to my calculations the UPS should be able to run 5+ hours. However, the thing has a built in auto-shutdown after 2 hours. I've been fidgeting with the viewpower software to get it to stay on longer to no avail. Any ideas on what settings to change, to get it to run until the battery is flat? Or at least push auto shutdown to 4 hours? Thanks in advance

If you run it flat it wont even last a month, you only suppose to drain it to 50%

A PC UPS is not meant for running anything for a long period of time, even 5 watts. Is it a DC or AC pump ?

At this point it's only draining to a bit more than 80%, it's an AC pump. So the problem isn't running until it's flat, it's that it switches off after 2 hours and I want to change the setting. I'm well aware of the problems deep cycling these batteries can bring, although that's not the question.

Well even if we know the answer to getting it running longer, it won't help.
The problem here is that it's not meant to run anything for a long period of time. (even if you only drain it 20%).

running it longer will probably cause the windings to melt if its a transformer driven ups

Never use a normal UPS for things like this.
