Re-Stringing Squash Racket

Broke the strings off my racket :)

Total newb at squash but was given quite good rackets as gifts from a friend. Basically want to keep the frame but want to restring the rackets but haven't the foggiest clue as to how to differentiate strings, where to restring them (in JHB) and where to get new grips + overgrips. Don't mind importing strings if that's what needs be but any starting point will do.

Sportmans wearhouse?I have seen some strange contraption with rackets and strings, I assumed it was for restringing.

Avoid sportsmans if you can.
I strongly recommend parkview squash club in emmarentia / greenside for stringing and gear.
I know you are a beginner, but get the tension right. Tighter hits less hard but has more accuracy, looser will give more power.

PSC has some good staff who will help you choose the right gear. What i will recommend is investing in very good shoes. Squash is extremely punishing and without the right shoes you are going to develop all kinds of injuries and aches.

IF you need advice on which shoes / strings etc let me know. Although, if you catch craig there he will be able to assist you better than I could.
I prefer leaving the original grip on, then using overgrips (replaced about once a month). ITs all up to preference, but it works well for me..

Depending on your area, I can also recommend free social leagues and even some free coaches / lessons!

Do you have contact details for anyone at the club that can help me out, I'm in the East by Bedfordview so don't want to randomly pitch with no one there.
I have a pair of squash shoes, not sure how to tell if it's good or bad but has worked fine for me thus far (besides the massive blisters).

One of the rackets have a prescribed tension so going to go with that. The other I have no idea, maybe I can just mirror the tensions? In terms of the actual strings and overgrips do the guys at the squash clubs stock it
or should I order it online?

And if you do know any beginners leagues in the area let me know, mad keen at the moment just feel like I'm doing a LOT of things wrong.

Take your shoes with and get advice, its highly likely they are gonna do damage in the long run.
All grips, overgrips, strings etc are stocked at the shop (and at sportsmans warehouse).

Unfortunately I dont know bedfordview area that well unfortunately. Best bet would be to check out your nearest virgin active, if they have courts they usually have social leagues and get togethers

You get these white Roger Federer branded over-grips that I swear by. Once you start using them you will NEVER use anything else, they freakin awesome!!! :)

I actually prefer the cheap karakal or wilson over grips. (around R60 - R90 for 3). They last about 4 weeks each and are fairly decent.
I guess just find what you like really
