It doesn't surprise me that you don't have a problem with queues on the US servers, given the time difference. Around 7pm in Europe, every Tom, Dick and Harry is logging in, so queues are to be expected.
As a trial account, I once waited almost two hours to get into the game (yes, I was THAT desperate). Now that I've bought though, the longest I've ever had to wait was perhaps 15 mins. If I'm in the queue, I generally go make some coffee and by the time I get back, I'm ready to go.
As annoying as the queues can be, I think I'd rather play on a FULL server, than a ghost one.
