Really high electricity bill

OP is correct though, if he's paid up to 87 and this bill is calculated from 86 there should be some reversals.... or not?

So I just got my bill for this month and it turns out Eskom thinks we've used 7000 kWh this month compared to last month's 1000 kWh. Does anyone have any idea how I can dispute this and get the correct meter readings?

If anyone can point me to the right place to get this solved, I'd appreciate it.
At my old place before smart meters the contractors city power used never bothered to read my meter. We had a few months where we had estimated 15000kwh bills in the regions of 65-85K.

Their billing is still a mess with smart crap, sometimes it’s a scale of 28 days, sometimes, 60.
