Hi Guys,

My Opel Corsa Lite 1.4i (2008) is giving me some problems (Cutting out when I drive sometimes, rev counter just drops when I put the clutch in and the car stalls, as well as it will not start if the engine is hot [Turn the key and no sound nothing, just dead])

I have had the battery tested and they said it is fine and suggested that I get a diagnostics test done.

I phoned Bosch this morning and was told the test costs R495. Is this the going rate for such a test?

Any other suggestion as to where I can go to get it tested? I stay in Alberton and work around JHB so don't mind anywhere around JHB.

Thanks :)

diagnostic test is dirt cheap, if you buy a ELM327 for your car,

cost about R350 and BT to your phone,

then you can at any point do the diagnostic test whenever you want,

Im no mechanic, but sounds similar to what my picanto once did,
every now and then, usually when the tank was 1/4 full, it would run poorly, revs would hunt, engine stall when the clutch in,

until I fixed it by getting a TPM sensor (throttle position sensor)
from kia parts in edenvale,

should be similar to do yourself,

if you can make it to eastgate shopping centre today, Ill plug my ELM327 and give you the codes.
should help you narrow it down...

Thanks for the help. Will look into that.
I will not be able to make it today due to work, but will contact you if I cannot come right :)

Try another decent mech - if they're charging more than 30min labour (even that's a lot), then you're being ripped off. Often they'll charge it as a service which is where the price hike comes in, but I wouldn't pay more than R250.

Lots of Corsa Lite owners here on MyBB. Rather often we get a thread related to the Corsa Lite; often it's to do with its not "light" fuel consumption.

Opel Specialists in Sebenza near Edenvale. CCD Workshop.

Have seen a few Corsas driving in and out of there. Theyre the only people I let touch my OPC.

To my mind there are two types of diagnostic tests.

The first is merely reading the codes, which is quick and easy and should be cheap.
The second is where those codes are interpreted and a professional opinion on what is wrong and what need to be done to correct it is given. That is more difficult and (if accurate) worth a lot more.

Mine is still rather light :) +- 600ks per tank

When a friend had similar problems it was the cap on the coolant bottle of all things that was leaking air and therefore not pressurizing and cocked up everything else.

Not saying it is that...but diagnostics helped jack **** in that case.

yip, this^^^

mght be something idiotic like fuel tank open, or fuel pump cutoff switch tripped....

A (CEL) ecu error code is hardly going to be illuminating. It usually is just the start in diagnosis. I recommend you find a bosch service centre and get a diagnosis done R450 p/h is cheap.

Was with him, got the code p0107 map sensor or something similar to that,

Definetly looks just like my picanto and the way it failed when i replaced tpm module

I'd say change map sensor and see where you at,

R500 is cheap. And unless you know how to look for these faults yourself, or whomever lends you an LM327 knows exactly what todo with certain error codes, you might be wasting your time trying todo it cheaper.

That's a pretty vague diagnosis, and I'd rate the advice as being risky to say the least.

OP, get it done by someone who actually knows what they're doing.
