Haha nice. And to think just last week I got started with Arenas (5-5 woohoo). But alas it will come to a close for now. I logged on today and had an average of 350ms which, really, doesn't play THAT bad. I'll see how bgs are but I don't expect much change. As long as it doesn't dip to red then it should be manageable (currently yellow).

Are you guys f***in serious? I'm going to SA over the holiday and I'm used to playing 9-17ms latency. Anything over 200 is virtual death. How do you manage with 400-500 especially in bgs and arenas? Let alone healers and tanks in raids??

:eek:Geez, I would like that! Maybe thats why I get pwned before I even see the bloody ally :p lol

Ownd a few the weekend (while questing, no PvP stuff). Getting the hand with my mage :) At last

Yeah, arenas are a big no no for me. I can still hold my own in bgs though. Wish we had normal latencies though, it's no fun getting beaten by someone in a duel or in PVP when you know they had at least a half a second advantage on you.

Latency

I have a 4mbps unshaped account with Imaginet and I have been getting between 450-750 it goes up and down like that mostly hovering around 580-650 have sometimes all the way down to 150 but thats on a very gd day which doesnt happen very often

If you research the problem identified originally by an Aussie ISP, you'll see that it can only make a difference. That is why they are updating the client to do effectively what the guild on the link outlines.

Remember that there is an additional requirement for Windows Vista as the registry key isn't recognised without a patch first ( which will come in SP1 ).

Also restart your machine after... so many people don't do this.

I went from 700-750 down to a constant 350ms.

Of cause there are caveats to this. Unless you implemement the linux solution or write a proxy to intercept the wow traffic, by changing the registry key it will effect all network traffic. So if you download plenty rather wait for the patch.

Worked like a charm for me... But I used to install file hosted here :

I am constantly raiding @ 340 / 370 ms stable now. Best tweak I have ever done. Tested it on 3/4 other peoples computers also running wow (XP) and they all experienced massive latency cuts. No side effects either. Also if you tunnel your traffic via a Linux Proxy server, it wont work.

Cant vouch for people running Vista, but on XP it worked for me.

Hmm. Personally I think I will wait for patch. I have also noticed this increase in lat on shaped and unshaped. Rather strange. telkom ftw as we all know. Hehe

I can now confirm that that change in the registry works!
Thanks for the link m8, I have tried it last night and got a ping drop from 630ms before to 380ms after!
Was a blast in arenas I and I was able to push my warrior's ranking to 1850!
Thanks again for the link :D

Oh and it is a confirmed error on Blizzard's side now, as they will change their network settings in patch 2.3.2 so you can wait for the patch or fix it yourself now. Can alsways remove the regestry edit later on...

Well I'm back on this ish. After playing a week on 400 latency, I'm not worried at all. I'm still top 3 most of the time in bgs and raiding is still a charm (I finally got sunfury 2 days ago and placed number 1 for final kara boss w00t). Everything seems fine when I'm being attacked animation wise. The only delay is with steady shot but you get used to it and still spam away efficiently.

Still proud of all of you who have used this dsl since day 1.

Over the last two weeks latency has been around 350ms, logged on just now (same ip address as last night) and bang 5000+ So, I assume as many places are back at work that it is related to huge business demand for bandwidth, maybe even a lot more voip usage that kills it during the day.

Yeah, these stupid businesses...don't they know we are suffering

/sigh the days of 190ms gaming on a unshaped line...

then it went to 300-350+

Could any other iburst users relate their experiences playing WoW duing the week, during business hours?
I've been an IBurst user in the Durban area, on a month-by-month 1mbit connection, for over 2 years now, and I've been playing WoW over the service on EU-Sylvanas for about 18 months, experiencing for the most part satisfactorily with pings in the region of 600-850 or so being the average, which for PVE play has proven quite sufficient.
However, the last few months, since October - November, daytime pings during the week have rendered the game pretty much unplayable. Even when the ping is reported as being in the 500-700 region, subjectively the game feels far more laggy than that with frequent spikes of up to 20seconds in duration occuring. Those are the extreme, the usual being around 2-3 seconds, but when they're occuring every 30-40 seconds the result is pretty much the same.
Conversely, weekend and late evening (1900+) pings seems improved over the same period, and I frequently get pings in the 400-600 region. However, I have things other than just playing WoW I'd like to do from time to time on the weekends :p
If anyone has had similar experiences and can offer an explanation as to why IBursts service has deteriorated so badly in this regard, or perhaps even a fix or workaround, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Sorry, double-posted that one thanks to lag :p
