hey guys, been playing for about 3 weeks now and im lvl 61 WOOT!!

hows everyones latency? mines been awful since monday, Im using vanilla 3 gig unshapped and had wonderful latency from the begining..was below 400 all the way but now its like 1000 constantly!

did a tracert and all 30 hops showed request timed out.

anyone else having this problem?

I started playing WoW for the first time in my life on Sunday. No matter what realm I create a character on, my latency seems to be between 700 to 1000.

Seeing as I'm new, I don't know any better than this high latency, but I would love to have it below 400.

Latency

My Latency has been between 500-700ms sometimes dropping briefly to 350 I have a 4mbps unshaped connection through imaginet so when I first go into the game my latency is 1200ms but thats become a norm now! Have u tried Twilights hammer have been getting very good latency between 270-350 there

What connectoins are you using?
I am still using hsdpa/3g on mtn modem
and i get latency ranging from 400-1000
but i learned to live with it.
On weakends i get very good latency 350-550
and week days dont know why but week nigths its 400-700 most of the time unstable with a few lagspike here and there and i dc about 4 times a week.

But anything over 1000 i log out cant play 1000+.

used to have have an up to 4mbs line shaped and was was getting an average latency of 600-800. EU server Ahn'qiraj

I moved at the beginning of the month and am on a 384kbps shaped at the moment (am a bit skint atm from moving and will probably upgrade next month or so after I've paid for the line install and the final payment for my last account) and my latency is around 650-950 now.

So it seems that actual line speed doesn't make that much of a difference but weather you're shaped or not.

yes, week days are generally good for me thought. During the week my ms is below 500 and weekends its usually below 400, It just started this week! maybe theres a new patch coming?

hi

i am playing from about feb this year.
my latency was like between 450ms and 700ms so var but lately(last month about) its over 1000ms constantly

i am with webafrica shaped on a 384kbs line

Interestingly enough...

Doing a traceroute - I get less than 250ms (not DSL)... In game over, the latency is anything from 1500ms up to over 3000ms sometimes. I'm really at a loss as to what is causing this...

people saying its got to do with the internatitional lines, I have some SA buddies playing with me and they use i-pop(burst) and they have the same problem.

i personally think its all these power cuts we having, somewhere down the line something is been turned off which is leaving us in the dark..literally!

Monday night was sweet on WA unshaped (450ms or so).

But I have noticed an increase of upto 650ms on WA unshaped (on both verizon and saix).

The latency is just getting worse and worse. From 400ms -700ms 4months ago now 1200+

This counties Internet is a #$%@#$%@#%#@$%#$ %JOKE!!

you only noticed this now?

have you guys actaully read some of the technical faults reported on blizz webiste, Some of these plonkers overseas are sitting with 20 meg broadband lines complaining that there ms is 40-50 ???? i mean WTF!! i would keeeel to have that!!!

yes wow has been horrible lately - sigh the 190ms days, where are thou...

i did notice quite a latency increase about 2 patches ago (the one where they first introduced software sound) and everyone on the blizz forums started going crazy. It's gotten a little better with the last patch but it's still not they same as before.

Electrical storms are the biggest cause of latency for me. Even if its not directly over head.

There might be some light at the end of the tunnel... just read the patch notes on the coming patch...
Seems the Nagle algorithm which they used in their code, to help cater for Bandwidth usage on the in game voice chat, did screw up a lot of things. So they managed to keep the bandwidth usage to acceptable level's with voice chat using this algorithm, but in the process, it messed up the normal gaming latencies.

They are going to be disabling it, but that does mean you will be using more bandwidth to the servers. This should be a significant change for us SA people, since people with high latencies should benefit the most from this.
Testing it locally there was a difference... around 80 - 100 ms drop in average latencies... Only people on Vista 64 bit are complaining of not seeing any real latency differences.

Cant wait, 2.3.2 should be here soon...

lol so instead of 500ms i can get 400ms...

Yes... and 100 ms is a pretty big leap.
The difference between 550 Ms and 450 Ms for my hunters shot rotations is easily 200 dps in difference...

Any change I can do in 5 min's that improves my latency by 80 - 100 MS is great by me.

Are you guys f***in serious? I'm going to SA over the holiday and I'm used to playing 9-17ms latency. Anything over 200 is virtual death. How do you manage with 400-500 especially in bgs and arenas? Let alone healers and tanks in raids??
