I was wandering if it is possible to recieve and send email from my telkom email account when i am connected to 3g on the vodacom network. I know i can recieve but fail to send is there any reason for this and is there a workaround were by i can send email while on 3g with my telkom email address?

Thanx

Dylan

You probably should check your smtp settings on your phone. It may have to be set to smtp.vodacom.co.za or mail.vodacom.co.za

Vodacom subscribers with more experience can maybe give the proper address.

Don't try using the Telkom SMTP with Vodacom. Use smtp.vodacom.co.za and should work. I had the same problem when I first connected my Helkom account.

I wasn't advocating using vodacom for the pop service (incoming calls). I agree entirely with your sentiments re vodacom incoming and haveboth disconnected my vodacom e-mail from my laptop and complained bitterly about the spam!

I am referring to smtp (outgoing) many of my clients didnt receive their emails as they bounced back due to vodacom's mail server being spam blocked. Obviously someone was using vodacoms server to spam.

This does not sound right. The smtp.vodacom.co.za IP is constantly monitored for blacklisting and managed accordingly.

When did this happen? There were some problems around January last year, but that was the last I heard about any blacklisting issues with the smtp relay.

Hi V3g

Cant remember exactly but it was either end of Dec 2005 or Jan this year. I know when I checked it was blacklisted on quite a number of lists. I did report it to 155.

I have to admit I haven't tried to use it since then so things may be very different now.

Sorry guys still having a problem, basically i am using my n70 as a modem connect to 3g then i check my email wih outlook, and i can only recieve and cant send not sure what smtp i should use on my laptop, as i tried smtp.vodamail.co.za and it requests a password. Do u think i should use this one smtp.vodacom.co.za ??

As per 4 use smtp.vodaCOM.co.za. I admit I am using 3G HSDPA Nozomi but works perfectly well for me. Mail is received through standard pop3 telkom address but goes out via Vodacom.

The art of recieving mail while on 3g

I personally have found that the bigger your laptop the easier it is to stand on while recieving mail;)
