Recommend A bank account

Also the internet banking looks like it comes from the 90s compared to fnb!

Function over form, Capitec's internet banking is simple and it works. I have an FNB online profile to handle PayPal withdrawals and while it's easier on the eye it is a complete piece of shyte. Forces you to navigate to a specific option by expanding the menu multiple times :wtf: oh and specifically on PayPal withdrawals, 90% of the time it fails in chrome without any error message and only works in IE :wtf:

fek FNB's internet banking straight to hell I say! ;)

Pure BS.

Earn money - Capitec.

What should a bank do? Allow you to use and store money, why the fck will you pay exorbitant fees for a facility that can cost you zero.

Capitec pays me to be a client since my interest shadows my monthly costs.

Pretty much this.
Capitec is the UNIX of banking, ugly, cheap and secure.

Which accounts have that good interest rates?
I don't see which ones even beat inflation, never mind "pay to be a client"

Hi guys.

Any recommendations for a bank account?Im thinking of changing banks
I currently have a standard bank savings plan(not even sure what it is,but i feel like they charge me for every little thing)
It has one debit order on there, and my salary gets paid into it.
I also have a capitec global one used for purchasing fuel.Capitec hasnt really given me any issues except for one problem recently however im not sure its their fault to begin with but im not sure how helpful they'll be while i try and resolve it.

Im looking for a card that will double up as a credit type card as well(for online purcheses etc) like the capitec card does.
Something that i can use without worrying about too many bank charges and stuff

Looking forward to hearing from you

P.S if you have a particular account in mind, please add the name of the plan so i can research it in detail.
Im not sure where to start

I would say FNB Gold Cheque account, straight monthly fee of R100. If I'm not mistaken it's 6 free debit orders, unlimited card swipes and 4 free cash withdrawals at an ATM and unlimited if you withdraw at checkers. It works online perfectly and especially nice with the new FNB App.
It also works well with international transactions.

Looks like FNB will suit OP. I use Capitec but with what OP requires, FNB looks better.

Capitec costs R5 a month.

How little do you earn that your interest doesn't cover R5?

I agree the swift out is a pickle but then again it's not a issue really.
Until you need it.

In my case

Sharetrading - EasyEquities and GT247

Swift - Bitcoin

Financing - define financing?
Which brings us back to the original point - its a budget service with lots of holes that you need to patch up with external services. Not something everyone is keen on, especially not this crowd:

Earning < 10k pm: Capitec
Earning between 10k and 100k pm: FNB Gold/Premier/PC/PW and get to eBucks RL5 to make it worthwhile
Earning > 100k pm: Investec

Also...in what possible world is bitcoin a swift replacement? :crylaugh:

Swift is to pay into other banks corrects?

I've never used it in my life so I assume that's what it's for and if that is correct then yes bitcoin is the perfect replacement.

Bitcoin is the future. That and ethereum.

Swift = international EFT

Thing is everyone can accept a Swift transfer (even Capitec people lol)...while bitcoin is still a fringe thing that half the world hasn't even heard about. That limits it's usefulness rather severely.

That's what I thought. Yea no definitely not a mainstream replacement yet but it will be within the next 18 months. Banks are rushing for blockchain they have too. It's adapt or die.

@OP, did you change yet?
I'll also recommend FNB or Capitec over any other options.
Just one more option to concider, seeing that you're on a savings account with Standard bank. Why not talk to Standard bank about moving over to a current account. Fixed monthly fee and way better than their savings account.
My mother is with them and didn't want to move away from them, old people thinking that the bank cares if you're loyal to them. She also just moved from savings account to a current account.

Still, it would be a little more work, but I'll move over to FNB or Capitec.

Man mybb really needs a way to set reminders @ 18 months.

Also if you think banks are rushing towards blockchains for your benefit then you're deluded.

I would like to point out that block chain and bitcoin are somewhat two different things. To simplify, block chain is the tech behind the scenes that verifies transactions (this is what the banks are looking for), bitcoins is the currency that uses the block chain (not what the banks are looking for). So your post at 17 is actually not correct, as far as I know not many banks in the world provide you direct facilities to transact straight into bitcoins. Your process would therefore be bank account (local) -> bitcoin exchange (local) -> bitcoin exchange (destination) -> bank account (destination). Also due to current foreign exchange controls for SA, as far as I am aware correctly, if SARS catches you using bitcoins for foreign transactions then it apparently falls under money laundering unless you declare it, SWIFT on the other hand is automatically declared and handled by the banks who are agents for SARS with regards to forex.

I did not say my benefit.

It's for their benefit.
Ethereum and the blockchain renders a bank useless

That's incorrect.

Regarding Sars.

As for the blockchain yea I understand that part.
