I'm looking to get a new ADSL Router, I'm looking for:
ADSL 2+
4 Gigabit Ethernet/LAN Ports
Wireless N (Doesn't have to be dualband)

What do you guys recommend (Please no Netgear, will never touch those POS again)

I have not used, but have heard very good things about the new Asus routers.

Linksys Cisco X3000 - fits the bill of your requirement. Only thing I dont like about it is that it doesnt keep line stats (attenuation, noise margin etc) - but it is rock stable! Much better than the belkin I used before.

Nduimiso:
What Netgear modem did you have previously? The DGN 2200 / DGN3700v2 seems like pretty decent ADSL modems...

Do you want an all-in-one solution, because they are usually quite a bit more expensive?
Otherwise you could go for an ADSL modem (eg. D-Link DSL-2500U) and a broadband router with 802.11n & 1Gbps LAN ports.

Yeah they seem really nice, but none quite fit my requirements

I tried the netgear DGN3700V2, took it back the next day, besides from the fact that it seems Netgear ADSL routers can only be accessed from IE on setup (Chrome, Firefox don't work, great job there Netgear) that router has problems with marconi exchanges and won't auto reconnect if the line drops for whatever reason, literally the worst router on the market and its supposed to be their top of the range model.

i want to avoid having 2 routers, really just want to have 1 with everything

I just want to make sure that it has a port for the phone jack (ADSL jack) so I can connect it straight to the line without some other modem as intermediary?

Get a modem that can use the utility routerstats-lite and DMT, then thank me later

I found netgear with broadcom chip the best.

RouterStats is configured, virtually ready-to-run, with versions 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Netgear DG834, DG834G, DG834GT, DG834N, DG834PN, DG2000 and DGN2000 and the Thomson ST585 v6 & v7 and the TG582n/TG587n routers.

With any of these routers, you should only need to enter your own username and password to be up and running.

(Netgear DG632 users: Please see this post and this post on our forum.

RouterStats incorporates its own fully up-to-date Help file but you can view a copy here if you want to look at it in advance. (Note that this online file isn't always kept up to date - the latest version will always be included with the program).

The Help file provides details of the following additional routers (thanks to feedback from other users):

Belkin F5D7630-4A (UK)
D-Link DSL-502T, DSL-504T (Check the "Use source B" checkbox - see FAQ - Q4)
Telnet also works by selecting the AR7 chipset and checking the Experimental checkbox.
Draytek Vigor 2600G
Linksys WAG54G
Linksys HG200
Linksys WAG160N
Linksys WAG200G
Linksys WAG354G
Netgear DM111P (Check the "Use source A" checkbox - see FAQ - Q4)
Orange Livebox (Inventel)
Speedtouch 510 v4 (Firmware 4.3.2.6) (Works partly. Rx Noise and Rx Sync OK)
Speedtouch 585 v6 & v7
Voyager 2100 (+ probably 2110 and possibly 2019)
Voyager 220V (Check the "Use source A" checkbox - see FAQ - Q4)
Zoom X5v

This plot clearly shows an approaching lightning storm.

The effect of a pulse of electrical interference. As the Noise Margin is reduced after the initial pulse, it's possible that this was caused by an electrical item switching on (and staying on).

Yes it does:

@wily me:
You can probably get all those stats from any ADSL modem with SNMP support.
I think most D-Link and TP-Link modems should include SNMP support.

after losing 2 modem/routers in quick succession to lightning I advise against this, rather split between a modem and a router, modems are much cheaper to replace

In Cape Town that really isn't much of a worry, I understand for Durban or JHB but here its a non issue

I use a netgear router, its great. Can't give you details like the other posts but netgear hasn't let me down once.
