I need to source a docking station for a Dell 5520.

Current Dell docking stations are expensive.

I just need to add a Samsung 27inch, Ethernet and maybe support for 2nd monitor.

Main thing is it must charge the laptop via USB-C

This one seems to be able to actually charge the Dell?

Do docking stations come with their own power adapter?

Yes, this supports upstream charging.. However, the product page here does not mention maximum supported power draw in wattage.. This is important.. if your laptop requires N wattage minimum to be able to charge the battery, and the dock can only supply N maximum, your laptop won't charge since the dock is going to use some of N wattage to power itself..

You need a dock capable of delivering N+ wattage to allow the dock to be powered and laptop to charge..

This of course means your existing dell power adapter must also be able to deliver N+ wattage, else you still run into the same issue..

And no, aftermarket docks typically do not come with power adapters..
