Recommend me a decent 3G/HSPA Modem

Hi guys,

I currently have the Vodafone K3772-Z USB 3G Modem, which is starting to do crap (frequent disconnections, only works on my eSATA port [doesn't work on the other USB ports which are USB3.0 / USB2.0 ]).

I am looking to buying a new, decent HSPA/3G Modem. Can you guys recommend me some affordable (looking at about 300 - 500 rand) 3G/HSPA modems - they should be 21Mbps capable, but 7.2Mbps is fine for me. Also, maybe a modem that doesnt have the operator software on it (VMC, MTN, etc).

Try to find 2nd hand Huawei E367. The best choice for HSPA+ 21Mbps, Cell_C frequency support. It was sold by 8ta and MTN, it had operator software, but not such obstructing as Vodafone.

However if you have power delivery problems on your laptop, I would recommend battery operated MiFi device with built in 3G modem. Internal battery is very usefull in sch case, it works as a large capacitor. And you can easily reposition device to a place with better reception when needed.

Edit: Forgotten to add that you can try to solve power issues by using self-powered USB hub. Get a hub with at least 1A power supply.
BTW, Modem itself is not so bad, but included software sucks, agreed.

have the E367 and man what a device! its rock solid would recommend it to anyone and still runs
very well!
