Recommend me a F2P game

Posted this over at mygaming as well.

So I'm thinking I should play a little free2play games, but there are sooo many out there. I need your guys help to recommend what I should be playing.

I'm traditionally a FPS fan, but have recently grown weary of the same thing over and over. Run shoot, run shoot, run shoot, repeat. A couple of months ago I played Torchlight II and really enjoyed that.

Originally I was never a fan of the RPG genre, but have learned to enjoy it, as it offers more than just simply running around blasting everything in sight.

I'm no gaming n00b, but I sure am no hardcore gamer either. I haven't had time to play a lot of games in the past, but think I should make some time for it.

I need something I can get into quite easily, something you can play fairly long before having to buy something. I don't want to have to invest to much time to it, but something I can pick up and play whenever I have the time for it.
 
I played Path of Exile for quite a while and just got bored.
Imo your best bet is to purchase CS:Go on Sale at the moment and enjoy.
 
It's probably the most in-depth action-rpg ever made, and is in constant development.

As a result, it can be quite difficult to get into, I found.
 
I enjoy my RPG games, Torchlight series was nice, but I just could not get to much into PoE, I play it occasionally, but do not play as often as I would like. It might be because of dota, but it might also be because I do not enjoy it that much.

What I do like about PoE though is the skill tree, it is massive, gives you much more options on the path you want to develop your character.

Other f2p games you might want to try, although not RPG is something like Hawken, started playing it a while ago, not a bad game, some kind of mech warrior type of game
 
It has an amazingly mind-boggling skill tree, with over 1300 nodes on it - That's insane!

There are absolutely loads of different character builds possible.

There is a robust end-game system via the map system (the opposite of playing the same areas over and over, really).

Etc, etc.

Which is not to say anyone is obliged to enjoy it, but if a person is a fan of the genre, this is about the best it gets, frankly.

Not too bad then. Tell me, how restrictive is the build element later on? As in, do you need to build "optimally" in order to keep up later on, or can one still do well without that?

Also, is it possible to respec or alter the nodes after purchase?

For some reason PoE just didn't 'grab' me the first time around.

Prefer Diablo, but glad you're enjoying PoE

Oh, ja, didn't get into Torchlight either
