How much louder is the fansink design over the enclosed fan design?

Im thinking of going for a 5770 but the enclosed ones are a few hundred more.

Also, quite a few places are selling the club 3d edition for quite cheap, it comes with 512mb though. Would the 1gb make much of a difference?

I suspect that the 1gb will make a big difference given how bandwidth-starved the 5770 is already.

Don't get the 512 meg version, the fan design depends on your cooling, if you have poor or no cooling go for enclosed, if you have a nice side fan and good airflow go for the open fan.

The overclocked version is pointless but the fan cooling looks superior in my opinion for a box with good side panel cooling.

I also think the 5770 on it's own is light weight for the price. 2 of them are insane but one i dunno seems a bit slow. Also wait for 26 march and see what nvidia bring to the table. I know you cannot wait forever with pc stuff but 26th march is not that far away and you will kick yourself if nvidia bring out something good or competitive and ati drop their pricing.

Thanks killa. What are the rumours saying regarding nvidia.

Because the closed design club 3d HD5770 1 gb has been discontinued. I know a place which has 1 in stock. So if i skip it i will have to go for the open design for roughly the same price.

What are your thoughts regarding nvidia, are they likely to do something worthwhile and how long does it take for the cheap brand versions to reach our shores? I would hate to be waiting for 3 months.

I don't think you are gonna see any real savings in the next two months, even if nvidia does succeed in launching their new series this month, the suppliers and suppliers suppliers are first going to sell their expensive stock. And that is if you assume that ATI will drop their prices on the announcement of nvidia's new range, which I don't believe will happen.

So my advice: buy the 5770 now, and don't read up on graphic card reviews and prices for the next 6 months to a year, that way you will guarantee your happiness

Nvidia - yeah well they're meant to be launching on the 26th of March. BUT:
1: They don't have a mid-range card lined up, which means you'll be looking at I'd think a $3-400 minimum to get onboard with Fermi
2: They haven't released any graphics card benchmarks yet at all and rumours aren't all that positive.

If you're going to get, get now, go ATI, don't waste your time waiting for Nvidia to pull it out.

Price drops are not affected by stock levels, if intel says they are slashing their i7 920 by 10 dollars the stock in this country will go down in price as will vga card, memory, mobo etc. Not sure how it works but when you hear a price decrease it normally filters through here a couple days after. I may be mistaken

I would rather wait for the 26th which is not far away than kick myself on the 26th when ati announce a price cut :D. These dx 11 cards from ati are entry level so expect more from ati soon after the nvidia release.
