Hi All,

So as you know I can only start my BSC in January 2013 having not applied in time (dumb a$$)

I want to keep myself busy for the next 6 months with something worthwhile.

Can anyone give me suggestions of institutions and courses that will assist me with my degree, i.e introduction to programming, programming fundementals etc.

Course must be:

Part time
Available to someone in JHB / East Rand (i.e for travel purposes for tests etc)
Would be awesome if it had credits that could count toward the degree (but i think i am reaching there)
Be available to start now (i.e can be a year course that starts in the beginning of the year etc)

Please don't just tell me a book to go through etc, I want a course with structure etc. (that or I will just start on the unisa modules if I could just get the damn information :( I will seriously bribe a unisa official to get my application in late  )

Thanks Guys.

Hi

Don't waste your time, do 5 BSC modules at UNISA in your preferred BSC stream in these 6 months.
It will be accepted by whatever university you want to go to in 2013 and you will be credited for the modules.

The second semester registration opens 18 June 2012.

I wish I could but having missed the application period I cannot register. Unless you know another way?

What stream of Bsc do you intend registering ?

I'm pretty sure that the non-IT modules are semesters and not yearly.

Have you confirmed what Bsc you intent doing ?

IMO the computing most likely however both have a some common modules so I would likely start with those. Even though they are semester modules I can't register this semester as I did not apply in the application period.

Dude there is the whole internet available to you! You need to become self reliant.

Example, http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm (look under engineering for computer science) there is a schiteload of similar stuff at your disposal on the net for free. Take some initiative and go hunting.

Go onto a forum like http://ubuntuforums.org/ etc and ask for free programming resources, they have a Education & Science as well as Development & Programming section and you will get a lot of help.

/clown signing off.
