rom installed, cyanogen mod 7 or kit kat experience, and all works, except the fm radio,

Your phone has low specs. Any Samsung with low specs never runs well... If you want Samsung, get a midrange or high end one

If its just for phone calls, whatsapp, youtube etc.
Why not just get a windows phone. It will be cheap and basically never crashes/slow down.

Think about it, most contracts end at 2 years, most warrenty also expire then,

Not impossible. Both batteries in my Dell and Compaq laptops went* shortly after 12 months. I'm convinced it was designed to fail.

* went = shorter usage time on battery
