I'm looking to reduce my exposure in SA without actually having to move my assets out of the country. I'd like to take positions in foreign currency to hedge against some of my other trading activities. Can anyone recommend a decent forex broker with low fees and tight spreads? I've Googled but there are just so many to choose from, I'd rather hear first-hand from someone whose used one of these brokers. TIA

Been with Pepperstone since 2014 - not a single issue with anything ever.

Checked their site, don't think they show all their pairs. Do they offer EURZAR / USDZAR?

You want to go speak to your broker about global equities. I have done mine with Stanlib. There are also others too. Money is sitting in equities (which are unit trusts) in Jersey. At anytime I EFT from my account, minimum USD1000 a time. Costs about R300 in bank charges. You have access to the money anywhere in the world. I've made 10% in less than 3 months. And it's in Dollars, not false growth because the Rand tanks. Over the last 10 years they have averaged over 7% pa. They do also have a less aggressive but lower bearing option.

Biggest thing is the SA government can't touch that money. Even if you die, it doesn't form part of any estate. You must just have a second signatory and the fund becomes theirs solely.

I see Stanlib has a number of Global equity funds.
Do you mind providing the name of the fund?
