Hi,

I have a Huawei 315 modem and I noticed that my p20 Pro has faster speeds running on the same network. The modem get 25mbps and my phone get like 50mbps.

What would be a suggestion for a decent router. Also need a dual external antenna connection as well.

Cheers.

Please refer to some advice I gave recently in this thread, for MTN LTE :
I'd personally look at the Huawei B535 model for around R2k or under, or B818 which Telkom shops might have for approx. R3k (I stand to be corrected on this, as it's a long time since I last read about that router's pricing).

5G I think is fairly limited in what's on offer, and usually much more expensive at the moment.

Have a look at both Axxess and Afrihost to see what they have available, and work from there -

ie. I presume you can buy from them, even if you don't get 5G data from them ; at the very least, can compare prices to elsewhere online.

This is possibly the most recent article by Mybroadband.co.za on the subject of 5G routers :

.... so info outdated ?

EDIT :

A comment from that article :

"If you're in an outlying area where you get a little bit of 5G, like 1 bar or you are located on the edge of 5G coverage maps, then do not bother getting the Nokia 5G router. It does not support an external outdoor antenna. The Huawei 5G router does support an external 5G Poynting MIMO antenna which will help with connectivity in poor/low coverage areas."

Also, someone else referred to this as well :

Thanks for the help. The Huawei 535 seems like a good option

Sure - cheers for the note.

I'd gladly go for it, if I needed to replace my 2x B525's (and was sticking with LTE, of course).
