Rectron resellers

Something tells me he forgot to add VAT before working out the pricing.

OP - that could be the 25% you're talking about - 14% of it is VAT, the rest is the +/- 11% is markup.

I had that feeling too. VAT only has to be included at retail level. & even if someone does not charge VAT they still have to pay the supplier's VAT so it is still a cost.

Drag and drop intO the quote page? Not that ignorant but thanks...

I'll most probably stick to what I know, sybaritic ftw! Supper awesome support and pricing is not too bad, was only enquiring to get the best deal... Most people do 10% markup ex vat, so at the end of the day you are paying a minimum of 24% above what Rectron sells for. Find the margins incredible uses funny though, 8k for a basic i5

Ps @ twilight fan, Trol much?

If you happen to be referring to me, I'm not a fan of sparkly vampires. I thought the thread went from simple enquiry to quick bashing.

/this is why i laugh when guys who can't buy from them ask for suppliers price list, setting yourself up for disappointment, falsely accusing smaller resellers of ripping you off etc

QFT

If you want good prices, service or whatever, then just ask for that. It may even be cheaper to buy piecemeal, e.g. Esquire often has good specials, but their range of top-end stuff is usually pretty limited, and often individual stores run good specials on specific parts. Hell, even Takealot sometimes has the best prices on specials when you include the free delivery.

Anyway, If I had to give a few recommendations for online stores:

Price: Rebeltech
Service: Prophecy
Price/Service: Wootware

If the retailer buys a R1000 item from rectron they must pay rectron R1140. Add 10% to that = R1254. If he/she doesn't charge VAT they'll make R114.

That is the reseller I'm looking for, wasn't interested in bashing anyone, also didn't want cost prices...would just like to see a decent margin, 20% I'll consider a fcking good price, 10%?? Direct me to that man so I can shake his hand for offering that margin

Rectron Pricelist R1000 + VAT = R1140

Reseller Marks up 10% = Before VAT R1100 After VAT R1254

Gross Profit 1250/1140 = 10%

Or Take Rectron Pricelist and x 1.254.

Whichever way you do it it is still 10% mark-up or gross profit.

I get that, thanks for repeating the calculation yet agian...

Let me re state my question so that everyone can understand what I am asking : I would like to buy a certain amout of goods to build me and my brother new pcs. I would like the best deal, where can I get it?

I dont expect cost prices, but I'm looking for someone selling at Rectron prices( not the price in the pricelist, takes an idiot to miss that vat is excluded ) (so that's the first price *1.14) and then their own markup of 10-20% . Ie good reseller = (i7 2500k * 1.14)* x where 1<x<1.2 . Ps on step calculation =D

Simple question, simple answer. I'll post some of my calculus problems for everyone who feel like doing math.

If you don't buy 50+ PC's a month, what difference does a percentage or two make? You're going to save like R50. What's the point?

Billy was just trying to make a point and it's actually a very useful post.

As mentioned by Rudimental and from personal experience definitely contact Wootware. Took one or 2 things from Rectron pricelist and compared to their prices their markup is less then 10%. Which online stores did you look at that has markup of 25% + ?

Why don't you post the specification you are looking for, and the good member of MyBroadband can then search the internet for the best prices for you.

Or you could do it yourself.

10% of of 30k is R3000, that a new keyboard + mouse. His calculation has been repeated before, over and over again...

All I want is everyone to stop doing the math and point me the "mythical 10% markup dealer" , closest I've seen is Rectron + 10% ex vat( their own vat ) so that's 24% over Rectron(including R's VAT)

Off topic, can myBB users still buy through Esquire? Pm'ed my details this morning

Googled it broken, have a list of atleast 30 shops so far... Still haven't found the 10% markup shop though? I can google, but everyone is claiming that this reseller exists, but no one is naming the reseller? Must be a "you must be this good at math to join" club of sorts.

Yes, MYBB members can still register for an Esquire account. Check Esquire's sign for the details. Very quick and easy to do and you get dealer pricing.

So you're saying you want to be shown a dealer who marks up 10%.
Then you say you've found a dealer who marks up 10%

Where's the problem?

Stop taking the VAT into account and calling it 'markup'. It isn't, it's VAT. It goes straight to SARS - the dealer has no benefit from it, nor can he not include it when selling to you. He pays it to Rectron when he buys from them, but then claims it back at the end of the year (which is why Rectron chose to quote their dealers the price excluding VAT). He then still has to pay over the 14% that he charges you.

The 24% markup that you're talking about isn't a 24% markup. It's 24% more than the Rectron pricelist, but that's because 10% is markup and 14% is VAT.

Rectron Price + 10% Markup + 14% VAT = Selling Price from the person you're talking about.

You won't find cheaper.

Btw, I saw rectron gates in Milnerton closed .... did they move or something?

:/ all of this could have been avoided if he had never gotten rectrons price list where he cannot buy. Instead he could have just searched different places like prophecy etc for the best prices instead of being misguided by prices he cannot purchase at. And I am not just referring to OP but people asking for distributor price lists in general.

Dealers can't even purchase a R1000 item for R1000, dealers pay R1140, so how can dealers sell that Item for R1100?

But yes, you are right.

Exactly. But for some unknown reason, some 'resellers' find no problem with uploading distro pricelists online. No doubt these resellers aren't the ones doing any reselling.
