Red Alert 2 - Everybody Dies - Mission Failed

I installed Red Alert 2 again (in Windows 7) and it installed fine and runs fine... but as soon as I start any single player mission everybody on my team dies and I get "Mission Failed".

Why is it doing that?

No, full installation off the normal original game CD.

Allies CD is in the drive.

I also applied the official 1.006 game patch.
 
the game obviously things its a pirate copy, do u have any cd emulation software running ?

Virtual CD v.10 (Which came out years after this game was released).

But this is a full legit copy in the original game box with the original installation key.
 
If this game is fully updated and legal, then remove any and all funny 'emulation' software and it should work.
 
as far as I can remember this happened to me once before the last time I tried to play it and I had to edit some INI file to fix it... but that was years ago.

And I can't find anything by googling. You would think that if this was some form of copy protection it would pop up on Google happening to others... but it doesn't.

I've heard of this happening in other cracked games... but that was more recent. I don't think this game had that kind of protection.

But mine is not a "cracked" version ... and it happens on any mission I try. And the game doesn't crash... the level just ends with "Mission Failed"

Run RA2 with no other background apps running and see if it still happens... if it does, maybe reinstall while no apps are running and try again. Dunno, this is an anti-piracy feature, shouldn't do it if everything is legit.

Problem may be with system registry. I had such things happening when I was reinstalling OS and everything is erased from registry.
Reinstalling was usually helpful.
 
I've setup a VMWare XP PC and installed basically all C&C's and last night I installed RA2, updated it to v1.006 and will test it and let you know if I run into any problems.
 
Just a suggestion, but have you tried Compatibility mode or 'Run as Admin'?
One of our programs at work is funny with Win 7. If I dont run as Administrator (even though the guy is set as an admin on his pc and is part of the admins group) the program doesn't run correctly....
 
Have you mounted an image file in VCD? If so, try unmounting it and downloading a no-cd crack from GameCopyWorld or something. Or get RA3.
 
Really? I've had it sitting on my shelf since release, but for various reasons haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

Same here... I bought it, raced home, installed it, played maybe 30 minutes and HAVE NOT TOUCHED IT SINCE! :mad:

That game is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo kark! The only nice thing is the hot ladies in it, but even that is enough to irratate you after 5 minutes (bad bad acting!)
 
Initially, we are talking about a problem with RA 2 (red alert 2) but it seems we've wondered off topic and are knocking a very kark game called RA3 (red alert 3)
 
RA3 isnt that bad. Its amusing for a few hours. Probably better than RA2.
