I recently started etting some serious redness in my eyes (on and off for about 6 months)
When I close them it feels like I haven't blinked in a while (burns slightly)

I can only really pinpoint it down to

1. Allergies
2. Sitting in front of a pc at work all day-

What can relieve this - it looks horrible

Lol, some of the answers :D but yeah...

I am an optical assistant, it seems like you could be struggling with dry-eyes (and yes it could be because you are in front of the pc a lot) but don't just waste your money on just any eye drops... there is a product called "Liquigel" that you can get from your pharmacy. It is not as thin as normal eye drops, so it will last longer on your eyes, giving you the relief you need.

Does your eyes get teary when you feel that burning sensation?

Go to an optom, if it persisted this long, they need to check not only what might be the cause but also if you did damage to your cornea because you ignored it for so long

As long as there is no pain or itching it shouldn't be too serious, but your right. Getting your eyes examined is always a good idea ;)

We often see patients with this problem. It could be allergies, yes, but most of the time it is because of the eyes drying out or a viral or bacterial infection. If you go to an optom he will be able to tell you exactly what causes the redness and if necessary refer you to a specialist or GP.
